A college librarian's work was never done.
No matter how many books you stock, there will always be more; no matter how many people you check out, there will always be one last person at the door. It wasn't a physically taxing job, but it sure was a mental challenge. Days were spent trying to balance stocking, students who didn't know where their book was, and making sure nobody burned their hand on the coffee machine in the back again, all while being one of two workers on a Sunday.
Working at a college library while also being a college student for that same school was hell, but Darryl loved it. -

He never thought it would end at all. But here he was, in a house too big and full of memories for just him, watching his soulmate move out.

There was a long pause before he answered and Bad watched him kiss at Lucy, the familiarity painful in his chest.
“Maybe not lunch, but if you’ve made food, it’d be appreciated,” Skeppy said after far too long of a silence. Bad was starting to get used to their disjointed communication, Bad talking too much and Skeppy not enough. “Snacks or whatever.”
“Well, you know me,” Bad started.
Skeppy finished, “stress baked muffins at 3 am?”
“Yeah.” Bad shrugged with a small smile and Skeppy giggled, the short-lived laughter trailing off as he stood up. Lucy nosed at his ankles then trotted to Bad’s side so that he could scoop her up. He did so gratefully, hiding his face in her fur to pull his eyes away from Skeppy.
It was so hard to look at his soulmate.
