Summary
“Holy shit,” Santos says. “There’s a baby priest in triage.”
-
Dennis Whitaker, in his last year of seminary, is delighted to be assigned to a rectory in Pittsburgh, and to the hospital chaplaincy that comes along with it. Finally, he's out into the world, where he can be of real use.
Slightly less welcome is Doctor Robinavitch, the senior attending of the ER, who seems to resent Whitaker's presence to the point of deliberate avoidance, even though the man is coming apart at the seams and could clearly use a friendly ear. Still, Whitaker is certain he'll find a way to make the most of the last twelve months before he's ordained.
It's just that lately he's started to have the strangest dreams.
Or: Dennis Whitaker and Michael Robinavitch's lovestruck, sacrilegious year of magical thinking.

Summary
Dr. Michael Robinavitch is not a strong man. After a crushing day in the emergency room, he finally breaks. Instead of heading to the roof, he heads to a beat up truck and drives west with no other plans except to keep driving. A blur of time and emotion later, he finds himself in a weathered church and meets the young reverend who tends to the small town's ailments.
Reverend Dennis Whitaker is either his salvation or damnation and Robby isn't sure which it is yet.

Summary
“You walk out of that door and we’re done. We’re nothing.” Robby threatens as Dennis is about to push the glass doors open, the privacy curtain open for everyone to see now.
Dennis is a doctor now and with that comes the knowledge that this is the right thing to do. Robby needs help. Professional help.
“We’re nothing either way, Michael.” Dennis ignores the way his voice cracks around itself, “I’d rather lose you and have you alive.”

Summary
"Oh hi, I didn't realize you were there. Sorry, I've probably been rude,” he said politely.
“You didn't see me?”
“Afraid not,” he smiled, tapping his sunglasses. He also pulled out a folded mobility cane to make his point.
“Oh,” Robby replied, dumbly. He didn't know what to say. He must have been out of it if he didn't question the pair of shades on a cloudy day.
“Are you alright? You sound upset.”
“I just had a shitty day. I'm sure the next one will be even worse,” he laughed, dryly.
OR
Robby is on the verge of losing it until he meets a blind man named Dennis.
