Summary
After a disastrous school year of bullying and terror in Unova that culminated in an unceremonious, unwilling coming out to her father, 14-year-old Helia Brillante and her mother move to Paldea for a fresh start. Helia isn't so sure how 'fresh' of a start it will really be - she's prepared to face the same, if not worse, at Uva Academy.
But as the first day of the school year dawns, everything begins to change, as a dragon falls from the sky and she meets new faces that might just become lifelong friends. And as she begins to realize, something even stranger than that is beginning to emerge - from within her. Otherworldly music echoes in her heart, and the impossible Pokémon she's dreamed of all her life suddenly seem much too real. Helia has good reason to be afraid, and yet... this change is a chance, too. It's a chance to break her chains, to become the flower she's always been meant to be. That chance is left to Helia to seize - but not, perhaps, without a little help along the way.

Summary

Zoey appeared beside her, firm and unyielding, though there was a shadow of doubt clouding her eyes. Still, her voice didn't let it show when she spat, “This is a new low, even for demons.”
The creature just looked closer to tears and even more lost now, scrunching its tiny face in fear and confusion, like the mere threats were harming it.
You aren't fooling anyone Mira thought, but her heart hurt at the sight.Rumi still wasn't there.
And Mira's frown deepened, not lessened, as the demon stuttered, then begged, “Wait, wait! I'm not evil, I'm yours!” Its lip wobbled and its voice sounded close to cracking. She turned and looked at Zoey, all wet, big brown eyes and pouty lips. “I'm your kid, I'm from the future! Please believe me, mommy.”

Mira shook her head and took her position back at that bar. She was too busy glaring at Abby to look at who was waiting, so their voice took her completely off guard.
"Hello, stranger," Rumi grinned up at her. "It's been a hot minute."
"Rumi?"
"Yup."
"Is—do—Zoey?" She stuttered slightly.
"I'm here too." Zoey popped up, swaying slightly from whatever she'd already drunk. "You look really great, just if you were interested."
Rumi elbowed her for that, while Mira flushed scarlet.
"Can I get you anything?"
"Just your name?" Rumi grinned, her gaze dropping obviously. "It's nice to finally learn it, Mira."
"This whole time and you read it off a damn nameplate. That's cheating." Zoey grumbled.
Or: Mira had found her feet. Not easily, not without damn hard work, but she'd found them. So why is it, whenever she runs into these two strangers, she always feels like she's falling?
