In a lot of ways, Laios was like a dog.
One of those massive dogs that almost made you think warg, except they're big slobbery messes that want to be lapdogs, not violent killing machines. And the thing about dogs is that they have teeth, muscle, they often want to sit on you despite being twice your size, and they do this thing called resource guarding.

“So… you really are applying for a sabbatical to run around the elemental nations as an, ahem, horny civilian?” Shikaku leafs through the papers, looking with despair at the perfectly neat penmanship. The annoyance of everyone in his life (including Gai) thinking he should be doing literally anything with his life except ANBU has dulled, so he can enjoy their flabbergasted looks when he decides to do something stupid.
This is a deeply, horribly, stupid idea. Kakashi knows this. However, Kakashi is also nineteen, and thus allowed to do stupid things like fucking his way across the Elemental Nations.
(It might even have worked, if he hadn't accidentally-on-purpose seduced the Shadow Mizukage.)

Summary
He isn't meant to wake up after the war, but he does. The shinobi surrounding his bed wear Konoha-green flak jackets and proud Leaf symbols on their headbands. He doesn't remember all their names. They didn't matter. Weren’t relevant to the plan, as devised by the chain of manipulators that made up his predecessors. To him, their lives were insignificant, because there was nothing they could give, and no way they could stop him. So, they fell under the umbrella of ‘shinobi’, brainwashed soldiers of a broken system.
Despite everything he did, all the pain he caused and the lives he took, Naruto grins at him, as though meeting an old friend.
“Hey,” Naruto greets. “Welcome back.”
“Hey,” he returns with an unused voice, “what the fuck?”
OR:
Obito wakes up several years after his death in an unfamiliar body. Why? Well, Kakashi has a mission for him. The problem is that he doesn't know what the end goal is or how to get there.
