Summary
Hua Cheng and Xie Lian ship the same RPF ship: "Wu Ming" x the man who impersonated the killer Bai Wuxiang and eventually contributed to his death. Xie Lian’s poems are beautiful, filled with grief and love from the impersonator’s perspective. Hua Cheng prefers to pretend that Wu Ming never died. Both of them have secrets.
Xie Lian looks up from his own phone (horrible, broken, the screen is barely holding together, Hua Cheng needs to buy him a new one ASAP) and pushes up his mask. Underneath, his face shines with sweat, and his hair is a mess. Hua Cheng is in love. "You’re crimson-rain?!" Xie Lian exclaims. "Oh my god, this is the convention you mentioned?"
Hua Cheng thinks he says something normal and/or flirtatious. The rest of the convention is a blur. Xie Lian almost smiles once or twice. Hua Cheng’s heart aches for him, and aches more when he thinks about the few personal posts Xie Lian has made while they’ve been mutuals.

Summary
"It’s like…" Xie Lian tries. He grasps for words. "I shouldn’t."
"You’ve been shackled," Wu Ming says, glancing with simmering anger at the angular black lines on Xie Lian’s neck, "and you’re cultivating a new path."
"I know!" Xie Lian says, frustrated. "But I still feel…"
Understanding dawns in Wu Ming’s eyes. He releases Xie Lian and climbs to lie beside him, entwining Xie Lian’s fingers with those of his clean hand. It’s a sweet gesture, though Xie Lian has touched worse… Wu Ming’s hand on his waist brings him back before he can sink into memories.
"It’s okay," Wu Ming tells him. "I promise, it’s okay for you to have this. What if we did it together?"

It must be the cart driver. Hua Cheng continues on. He’ll never get anywhere if he lets his doomed fantasies guide him.
