Buck has the perfect Sunday planned for Theo.
Pancakes, the park, hot dogs, trampolines, pizza, a movie—the kind of day that feels normal in a way Buck still isn’t used to.Instead, Theo wakes up feverish and miserable, and Buck spends the next forty-eight hours learning exactly what being someone’s parent really means.
Eddie notices immediately.
Buck calls out of shift for the first time in ages.
Buck insists he’s got it handled.He does.
Right up until he really, really doesn’t and Theo has to call Eddie because Buck won't wake up.

Then, Theo says, “Are you a boyfriend?”
And the question is loud, a yell that makes Buck’s stomach drop. Because Buck’s not stupid; his phone call with Hen was yesterday, and Theo had been a room away.
Buck glances over and oh my God, oh God no, Theo is staring up at a gorgeous, gorgeous man, with big, broad shoulders and tan skin and huge biceps and a strong nose and—
The attractive man points at himself. “Are you asking me?”
Unfortunately, a defeated part of Buck thinks, his feet frozen in place.
Theo’s big mouth opens again, and adrenaline rushes straight in Buck’s veins, something wild and anxious cracking open inside his chest. He rushes to Theo’s side, but it’s too late.
“Are you a boyfriend? Buck needs a boyfriend for ice cream.”

Summary
“He—He had a nightmare,” Buck says. Eddie can tell he’s tugging at his hair. “He was asleep for barely an hour, and now he won’t stop crying. The thunder scares him.”
Before Eddie can ever answer, Theo’s cries interrupt him. His voice wails out a sad, “EDDIE!”
Eddie pauses. “Did he just say my name?”
On the other line, Buck’s breath hitches. Eddie pulls the comforter off himself, already springing into action to find his shoes and car keys.
Still, Buck doesn’t reply. Theo’s sobs are even more earsplitting through the phone. “I want EDDIE!”
“He’s—” Buck sucks in a breath. “He’s asking for you.”
OR: Theo can’t sleep because of the storm. Buck calls Eddie and Christopher for their help.

Buck sighed as Chris grinned at him, victory in his eyes. "I won! I did it!" He cheered and Buck smiled amused at him, unable to be upset that he'd lost.
"Alright Superman, you won the bet. What's your request?" He asked and Chris grinned, thinking hard. "I want you to wear a hat I have for a whole day, even at work unless you have to put your helmet on," he said and Buck's mouth fell open.
