“If I had asked for commentary, I would have invited you over.”

“That’s on you for giving me your spare key.”

Even without looking, Ratio saw the patronising smirk on Aventurine’s lips. Yes, that was indeed Ratio’s fault, chalked up to a lapse in his judgement. Now here Aventurine was, flouncing around the apartment like an esteemed guest and not a cockroach Ratio would love to squash underneath one of his gilded sandals. Aventurine liked to come by sometimes to gawp at all of Ratio’s unfinished work and make moronic reflections of how impressive everything looked, never managing to sound genuine in his delivery.

He’d come by more frequently as of late due to his loneliness and utter lack of other social connections with which to waste his time on. “So you’re still alive,” he’d say, then toss himself into the giant bouclé armchair in the corner, shrinking him down to ant-size.

Or: Aventurine comes to visit and helps Ratio let off some steam.

"Not a ruinous amount," Dan Heng said. "But March will be able to run that jukebox for a while."

Tapping mindlessly against his tabletop, Kaoru makes his decision. He won’t know if how he’s feeling right now about Akihiko is legitimate or an exaggerated attempt at self-sabotage until he talks to Kojiro. Annoying as it is, Kojiro knows him better than he knows himself, and he always helps him find clarity.

You: I am coming to the restaurant for lunch today.
    Gorillajiro: a heads up?
    Gorillajiro: from YOU??
Gorillajiro: i must be meeting the boyfriend today

“We’re casting the play. Will you take the part?”

Langa snapped out of his reverie to see the class rep speaking to him from the front of the room. He’d zoned out before the class even decided to perform a play, and he had no idea what role they were trying to assign him. Maybe the prince, based on that embarrassing nickname? He wasn’t excited about the prospect, but he wanted to help, and he was the type to decide first and ask questions later.

“Sure,” he said. “But, uh, which part?”

A murmur of excitement rippled through the class, accompanied by a few stray giggles. The class rep smirked at him.

“No take-backs if you weren’t paying attention, Hasegawa-kun. You’ll be playing Snow White.”

“Oh,” said Langa. He shrugged. “Okay.”
