You had been holding off a scream for so long that when you got home, as soon as you locked the door you ran into bed and screamed into your pillow.
It wasn’t enough, no. Everything was still uncomfortable.
Everything was still off off ofF OFF OFF OFF OFF–
You sat up in your bed. You couldn’t sit still.
Your eyes frantically scanned the room for the nearest sharp object. Then your eyes landed on it. A pair of scissors. On your desk. Everything else around you was irrelevant.
Or: Overwhelmed with everything, you hurt yourself, forgetting of your soul bond with your boyfriend, Casper.

Despite all you can do to try to deflect, deep down you knew he would make sure he got his answer one way or another. Reluctantly and quietly, you say: “Can you rip out my heart again?”
There was a moment of silence, before a chuckle filled the room. The sound was neither biting nor soft. Chuckling from Septem.
“Oh, really?” he said, amused. “I couldn’t hear you that well. What did you say?”
You had to resist the urge to groan. Of course he’d drag the words out of you again. “You know what I said, Septem...”
“I think I need a repetition to be sure.”

Noor and shams (or Sirius, but no one uses that name, nor are they allowed to. Except Septem, he can. Not like you want to use that name anyway) were outside in the garden like you were.
The two of them were play fighting. The first time they did so worried you, and you were going to stop them. But since you realized that they both left unscathed each match, there was no need to stop their fun.
(“Young stars need to release their energy, or else it will build up and explode. This is a great way for them to release it without harming themselves or others,” Ignis had said one day.)

I was drifting in the void, not Nulla’s void, no, but a dark expanse that went on forever. I couldn’t find the end to this place even if I tried. I couldn’t even move in the first place.

Summary
He heard footsteps out in the hall, soft and gentle. The Soul immediately knew who it was.
The Mind always slept before night could truly begin. He claims it’s because he needs to keep his brain sharp and sleeping helps with that. It is probably true. The Soul isn’t the logical side so how should he know?
The opposite is with The Heart. He sleeps the morning off and is awake during the night. But alas, the day is longer than the night. Sometimes that means he will just stay in his room the whole day.
That’s why he knew immediately that those footsteps belonged to The Heart. And he was right as the emotional side came in through the kitchen door. It was hard to see, but from what The Host could gather he looked peaceful for once. Wings tucked in and relaxed posture.
Or: The Heart and The Soul have an awkward conversation in the middle of the night.

Being forced into the Devildom, to live with people who were slowly but surely ruining you, you had thought you could survive if you just held on. If you just made it to the end of the year.
And then Belphegor killed you and despite being saved by Barbatos, fishing you out of the stream of time before you finished dying, you felt something within you break, fear and despair tangling together into something desolate. You really were just a pawn on a grand chessboard and nothing more. You would never escape from here and even if you did, you would not escape them.
So when Solomon proposed a solution, to vanish from this world and find refuge in another universe, you accepted.
You just hadn't thought that, when you finally freed yourself from one hell, you'd land straight in another, staring up at Diavolo who welcomed you to the Devildom, the exchange year only just beginning.
