When Alpha Rio Vidal is informed by her new doctor that they refuse to prescribe her any more suppressants after she has been on them for a decade, she is left with no other option than to find a partner to ride her rut out with. "What did you think of the scene?"
"The uh—" Rio coughs, "The intimate scene?"
"The in—" Agatha's sigh cuts her off and her laugh enters Rio's space, "Can you not even say the word sex, Rio?"
"I can—" Rio's ears feel hot, and she snatches the beer back, eyes finding the doorway, but there's no one there but them, "I can say sex."
"Oh, can you?" Agatha presses in close until they're almost touching. Rio's not—she's not great with touch; she doesn't receive it much in any capacity. "Because to me, it sounded like you're nervous in the way someone who's never been touched is." Agatha's lips curl into a grin like she's already excited for her next words, and she gasps, over exaggerated, "Are you a virgin, Rio?"
OR
Rio finds out the new neighborhood book club can never be just book club if they've been nursing a very mild crush on their next door neighbor of seven years.

She doesn’t even get to order the damned beer before there’s a blood-curdling scream from upstairs, and she’s off like a shot.
Halfway up, she’s met by none other than Madam Rio, and Rio looks fit to kill. Agatha has the fleeting notion she’s about to be shoved down the stairs and instinctively sidesteps as Rio gets close.
“That you screamin’?” she asks.
“You don’t know my scream by now?” Rio snaps.
Agatha hooks her thumbs in her belt loops and puffs out her cheeks. “I s’pose y’do it often enough, I ought to know it. What’s wrong this time?”

Agatha Harkness is the sheriff of Westview, a small town that flourishes due to the whorehouse above the saloon. Now, Agatha’s not against the idea of the sex industry providing the funds to pay her salary and keep her comfortable… she just can’t fucking stand Madam Rio Vidal, the infuriating, reckless, devil-may-care woman who runs the business. Rio doesn’t listen, doesn’t respect Agatha and doesn’t take no for an answer. Dr. Vidal takes the wand and slowly slips it inside of her. It goes in seamlessly. Agatha’s neck feels tense, and she tries to lean her head back to loosen things up.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Dr. Vidal looks up at Agatha with big baby brown eyes. “If you’re anxious, we can stop, or I can give you a pheromone patch—”
“I’m perfectly fine,” Agatha snaps, and then she blurts out, “I’m not nervous!”
Dr. Vidal just blinks at her owlishly, and Agatha presses her lips together. Fuck. What if the doctor connects the dots? Agatha isn’t nervous, just embarrassed. It isn’t her fault she encompasses a physical body and, by objective accounts, Dr. Vidal is attractive.
And smells good.
Whatever.
“Okay,” Dr. Vidal says softly. “My apologies.”
_____OR, Agatha finds herself in a predicament: she's pregnant, single, and in her forties, and the only gynecologist that is qualified to help her is alpha Dr. Rio Vidal.
