Saparata does have a puppeteer: the ocean, the cursed sea, the one who carried him when he fell but drowned him all the same. He owes the sea for giving him life, and the unambiguous debt he owes it is being repaid in the form of his torture. Even now, he can feel it binding his throat, his arms, his legs, and he knows that he is constantly at its mercy.
Maybe he is going hysterical.
