Summary
Jayce Talis needs to get out of New York. His publisher calls it a “creative retreat,” but Jayce knows better. His work is slipping, the city feels too loud, too suffocating. So he drives—somewhere quieter, somewhere slower. He rents a room in a small town that barely exists on a map, tells himself it’s just for the summer.
He isn’t looking for a muse.
But then there’s his new landlord—Viktor.
Sharp-eyed, sharp-tongued, cigarette in hand. Unbothered by the heat, unimpressed by Jayce, unreadable in a way that makes Jayce want to study him a little too long.

Summary
God knows it’s the longest, most quiet minute Jayce has ever experienced. Eventually, Viktor clears his throat. “Were you…Were you serious? About me joining you for Christmas?”
It's so quiet that Jayce almost misses it.
At some point, he also reminds himself to inhale. “Of course!” he breathes. “Viktor, I, I don’t want you to be here by yourself.”
A faint frown tightens Viktor’s brow again, deeper than the last, but it’s gone as soon as it appears. He sighs and nods, almost to himself. “Thank you, I…I will take you up on that offer. If that’s okay, of course, with your family.”

College!AU - Jayce realises that Viktor will be spending the Christmas alone at the university. He invites him to spend it with the Talis family, instead. Apparently, the word "partner" can have all kinds of meanings.
