Summary
Cheng Xiaoshi runs warm. His hands, his arms, the side of his face when he falls asleep against Lu Guang’s shoulder on the couch. A biological fact. Noted.
What Lu Guang has been less successful at noting clinically, and more successful at simply experiencing whether he wants to or not, is what it does to him. The warmth. How it gets into him like light gets into a room—you don’t notice the precise moment of entry, you just find that the room has changed, that you are standing somewhere different from where you were, that something has been altered in the quality of the air.
Or: they love each other, even if they never speak it out loud.

Some girl comments on how close Lu Guang and Qiao Ling seem, and it bothers Cheng Xiaoshi more than it should have. A whole bunch of feelings ensue until Lu Guang finds him and settles it :)

Cheng Xiaoshi’s been reckless lately. Taking bigger risks. Always pushing, always trying to save everyone. And Lu Guang? He’s supposed to be the anchor. The calm, steady voice. But the voices… they get louder, too. The what-ifs. The could-have-beens. They gnaw.
God, I’m tired. Bone-deep, soul-weary tired.
His eyes sting. He needs just a few minutes. A few minutes to just… be. To not be calculating trajectories, assessing risks, watching. Just… nothing. The pattern of the couch is surprisingly rough against his cheek. Almost grounding. His breathing evens out. The studio fades.
Then... nothingness.
Then him.
Or: Lu Guang has a nightmare & Cheng Xiaoshi comforts him.

Summary
Cheng Xiaoshi, all in all, loves working with Lu Guang. It’s not much heavy work, mostly just helping people and making sure no one is doing anything stupid, like hiding a body in the vanishing storage room. Though he’s already sat there for an hour and didn’t disappear, so he’s thankfully disproved that myth.
(Lu Guang runs a magic store and Cheng Xiaoshi needs a job.)
