Summary
Matikanefukukitaru has always felt the heat of the sun upon her. When she was a child, she first felt its touch, spurring her on to begin racing. When she was a racer, it drove her onwards, to heights she never thought possible. But now, her racing days are behind her. She had her run in the Twinkle Series, then the Dream Series, and now she begins the next chapter of her life - returning to Tracen as a trainer. But the heat of the sun is fading, and surrounded by her peers old and new, the question lingers; does she deserve this?
Dantsu Flame has many regrets. Regrets that she didn't go further, run harder, accomplish more. She was part of a legendary era of the Twinkle Series, though never in its spotlight. She ran well in the Dream Series, and made a name for herself that lasted - lasted enough to get her a job with the now-legendary racing silk designer King Halo. Thrust into a position that demands constant drive, decision-making, and pressure, the question lingers; can she do this?
By happenstance, their paths cross at Tracen Academy. After all, Fate has a funny way of making the most of chance encounters.

Summary

Matikanefukukitaru has had a pretty good career, all things considered. After all, fortune has always been on her side - well, except for all the times that it hasn't. Nothing a visit to a shrine couldn't fix though, usually. Alas - fate had other plans for her.
After yet another defeat, Dantsu Flame thinks she might just be the unluckiest umamusume of all. But when her path crosses with that of Tracen's most superstitious eccentric, she begins to wonder: how much is written in the stars, and how much can she change with her own legs?
Matikanefukukitaru might just hold the answer.
If Dantsu can make any sense of what she's saying, anyway.
