It’s a disaster. There’s nothing for Eddie to do now but rip the Bandaid off.

“I’vebeenlookingatyourGooglehistory,” he says, all at once.

    Buck blinks. “You’ve been what?”

“I’ve been—” Eddie breaks off with a huff, and then forces his eyes back up to Buck’s. “I went to the Google home page,” he starts again. “To search the thing about the coupling nut. But then when I clicked on the search bar, the recent history was not mine, because—”

A look of comprehension has begun to dawn on Buck’s face, suddenly.

“Because I was logged in on the iPad,” he says slowly.

    - in other words: the slow-moving catastrophe of buck and eddie sharing a search history.

    Summary

After a close call on a rescue, Buck realizes there are too many things he's been putting off for someday.
    So he makes a list.
    Some items are easy:
    Learn more of Bobby's recipes.
    Take Theo camping.
    Learn to surf.
    See the Northern Lights.
    Some are harder:
    Go to therapy.
    Tell people he loves them.
Figure out what Eddie means to him.

One checked box at a time, Buck begins rebuilding a life shaped by grief, healing, family, and the terrifying realization that the thing he's been looking for might have been standing beside him all along.

    Or:

Buck makes a bucket list, Theo adopts it as a personal project, the 118 become emotionally invested against their will, and Eddie Diaz ends up being both the problem and the solution.

    Summary

Buck taps the base of his glass with one finger. “Okay, ground rule addendum.”

“This is a dangerous amount of structure for two people ordering potatoes,” Eddie says.

“Shut up,” Buck says, affectionate. “Addendum: if we hit a grief pocket, we don’t pretend it’s not there, but we also don’t drown in it. Say ‘grief pocket’ out loud and we change the angle.”

Eddie stares at him and then laughs, the kind that sneaks up and shakes something he didn’t know was a fist. “Grief pocket?”

“Like hot pockets,” Buck says, too fast, the joke covering something fragile. “But sad.”

    “Do you hear yourself?”

“Constantly,” Buck says. “It’s a nightmare.”

OR Three years after Bobby's funeral, Eddie and Buck finally talk.

    Summary

You've seen it. A fic formatted like a classified document. A chapter that looks like a real social media feed. An interactive game, somehow, inside an AO3 work. You clicked the kudos button. You thought: how.

This is the tutorial that answers that.

A beginner-friendly guide to HTML and CSS on AO3 — no prior coding experience required. By the end of this series, you'll know enough to write formatted fics, build your own workskins, style your entire AO3 interface, and maybe make something that makes other people stop and think how.
