Summary
This is my rewrite of the HTTYD franchise, from the first movie onwards. It includes new characters, extra scenes, expanded world-building (or rather, actual world-building, if you know what I mean) and plenty of my own headcanons. Some stuff will stay the same, other things might be changed entirely. As for why I’m doing this? Good question! Mostly it’s because this is a (relatively) simple project I can work on when I’m not busy with more important things, and since the LA is coming out I figured now was as good a time as any to post it. How long I’ll be able to keep it up is another matter, but I hope you enjoy it for now!

Viktor faltered, bringing a hand up to his face. He rubbed his fingertips against the mask that divided it, and the scrape of metal on metal made a noise that was not dissimilar to chalk along a blackboard. Jayce leaned forward, and the couch croaked with the shift in weight. He took Viktor by the arm and rubbed his thumb over the cool skin.
“It’s not a bad thing to miss the good of it,” Jayce murmured. “It doesn’t make you a bad person that you felt powerful or that you thought what you were doing was right.”
"I’m not a person anymore, Jayce."

Jayce stares open mouthed from the doorway of the lab. A man who looks strikingly like Viktor is standing by Viktor’s desk, looking through Viktor’s notes, muttering softly to himself in Viktor’s voice. He’s even using Viktor’s cane. But it can’t be the real Viktor. He doesn’t wear clothes like that and he doesn’t style his hair in that way and he definitely doesn’t wear jewellery.
Except, today, apparently, he does.

Viktor's voice grows more hushed, matching the rustle of leaves outside. "I…I miss her, too. She was always kind to me."
Jayce pauses mid-bite to smile, then, so soft. "She loved you, V. From the moment she met you, she had said to me, 'He's got a gentle heart, Jayce. Take care of him.'" He looks up and meets Viktor's gaze steadily. "I think she always knew."
Viktor's heart is a painful thing. "Knew what?"
“That I was always going to choose you. In all timelines, in all possibilities, you’re always going to be the one for me.”
