The hand on my abdomen constricts me harder. He angles the knife so the blade is tight against my throat. It’s so sharp I can’t even tell if it pierces my skin or not until a trickle of blood trails down the sweat-slicked skin of my collarbone.
“If you so much as think about snitching, I won’t hesitate,” he vows, “There is no place you can run that I won’t catch you. There is nowhere that you can hide, that I won’t find you. Pray to any god you want, none of them will save you. I will hunt you to every corner of this forsaken earth, and when I have you, I will fucking destroy you.” He taps the blade against my pulse. “Don’t mistake my decision for mercy, Princess. I can’t wait to watch you bleed for me. I can’t wait to taste it.”
