“What?”
Ilya closes his eyes, humiliation twisting his gut. Still, though, it’s nice to hear his voice. His shoulders sag a little. “Hollander?”
“I don’t–” Shane sighs, long and heavy. “Why are you calling?”
Why is he calling? Ilya couldn’t answer. Not in any way that makes sense, anyway.
Voice wobbling, Ilya says, “I am sorry.” He inhales, breath hitching horribly. “Was mistake.”
On the other line, Shane goes quiet. Then, shuffling around, he says, “What’s going on, Rozanov?”
Or: Ilya calls Shane in the middle of the night, and against his better judgment, Shane comes to find him.

You shouldn’t be spending them alone in your apartment with a cheap fake tree you bought at Lowe’s. Give me one good reason why you can’t come home, no shoddy excuses.” Cynthia said with finality.
On the other line, Paul let out a shaky sigh, then went quiet for a minute.
“Well?”
“Mom, uh… You might want to sit down. I have some… news.”

At least once you thought you heard ice clacking against the roof— Witches you hoped that there wasn't going to be hail tonight. You'd hate to crawl up tomorrow to check the damage, and fix it too.
"You're shivering." Dark Choco Cookie rarely ever spoke up unless you were the one starting the conversation. Even then it was typically more of a statement than a proper invitation for conversation. That's what it felt like most times, at least.
He was observant. Not that it took a genius to notice when someone was shaking like a shaved down snow lion that had the displeasure of plunging into some ice water.
"The fire's already stoked, there isn't much else to do asides from wait until the storm to pass," You mumbled softly.

Summary
Cas sputters for the right words. He can’t exactly say “I thought you were disgusted with me”. Something tells him that that's not what Dean needs to hear right now.
Before he can find a suitable answer, Dean’s already speaking again.
“You won’t talk to me, you won’t be alone with me, you won’t look at me, and you looked like you’d rather get frostbite than get in the bed with me,” Dean rambles, voice getting thick and hoarse in an attempt to keep tears choked back.
TLDR: Post-canon destiel, thinking one another's feelings are unrequited when that's (predictably) not truly the case. An abandoned cabin in a blizzard, some mild hypothermia, and huddling for warmth forces them to talk it out...and let their bodies do some talking too. :)
