It was a warm night. 17-year old Sugihara Yasuhiro stood on the street holding a cheap convenience store umbrella, his shoes and socks soaked to the skin. His destination was Isezakicho, Yokohama’s red light district. Heavy rain lashed the streets, turning the black, rain-slicked roads into a vivid collage of shimmering neon stained glass from the lights overhead.
“What’s your name?”
The boy hesitated. The name ‘Yasuhiro’ carried a lot of baggage from what was essentially his old life. He didn’t want to be Yasuhiro anymore.“Well? You have a name, don’t you?”
