Summary
Starscream would disagree with the time everyone says the great war started. It started as early as the occupation of Vos. He was ready for war as soon as Senator Shockwave denied this plea for funds and energon to back go back to find Skyfire. It started for sure when he was branded a traitor to Cybertron for the one thing that wasn't his fault, and he had to run for his and his children's lives.
Now he and his crew of misfits travel the known universe as so called bounty hunters, later intermingling in the war between the Decepticons and the Autobots as never truly restful parties.
Then Earth happens.

Surely there is more that draws you to the Decepticon cause than just running the numbers.”
“If you want a fanatic, look somewhere else,” Starscream snapped. He admired Megatron, and his writing, but he wasn’t going to grovel for a chance at the brand.
“I want honesty,” Megatron grinned. “You could get a cushy position in any Autobot lab, or take one of the transports leaving Cybertron every breem, even with your checkered past. But you chose not to. I want you to admit why.”

Trust does not come easily, especially if you are a seeker, a former Decepticon and a former slave, but trust is essential to move on and start to heal.
Nacelle does not trust these Autobot grounders who claim they want to help him, he knows just what Autobot “help” entails and wants no part of it.
Jazz knows that Nacelle is far too dangerous and poorly adjusted to just be turned loose, but equally he doesn’t want the seeker to stay in a cell. He needs to gain Nacelle’s trust, but he knows it won’t be easy.
