Awwwww—how wonderful! I'm sorta in awe of how well you wrote John's thoughts while he was concussed, the stream-of-consciousness images & weird almost-random connections & dissociation from his senses & emotions. It's a terrific way to show how John used to cope with trouble alone but has grown/learned to count on Rodney to not only save him, but also steer him (& Atlantis as a whole) away from disaster before it happens. The concussion may be the only way John *could* let himself see that Rodney's his lighthouse, because John's defensive behaviors & fears really don't work & his inhibitions are only partially effective. (But bless his little brass buttons that he goes along with Rodney's "not when you're confused" decision. They can be such gentlemen!)
Rodney's POV & feelings seem very authentic too, tho' most of the time they're revealed indirectly through actions & insults. He's obviously been pining for John for quite a while (or at least considers himself one of John's "flirting victims", which is a wonderful concept BTW :-). You can tell he's learned to decipher & extrapolate from fragments of 'John' as well as Ancient & Wraith. Rodney's not at all sure that the *real* John would want him, naturally, since John's intimations & then kissing him are such outliers in Rodney' dataset for him. Fortunately Rodney's a skilled scientist & is willing to see if he can replicate these unusual results, with only a bit of freaking out & reassurance.
Oh, & the kissing & stuff was very sweet & hot too. >:-DDD
Thanks for writing & sharing this with us. <3 <3 <3
