Well, this was different. Every writing of 18th century France/Russia has been a blushing (usually virgin) Russia, and a detached, super-cool France. Reading a Russia who has an idea of what to do in bed is interesting and refreshing. And of course, the attention to detail didn't hurt at all. Despite the fact that I shamefully don't know what a Minuet is, I could still, if you'll excuse the cliche, picture myself amongst those courtiers. If this isn't the best France/Russia I've seen, it's certainly among my top favorites.
