You take a drag as you contemplate your reply, watching the smoke coil above you and float away.
“It’s been a long day, Steph.”
“Talk to me.”
You shake your head despite her not being able to see it.
“No, it’s alright. I just didn’t sleep well last night. Tired is all.”
She hums as if she doesn’t believe you.
“You don’t need me to tell you that smoking is bad for you.”
You scoff.
“If smoking was so bad, God wouldn’t have made tobacco. In fact, if he wants me to stop smoking, may he give me a sign right now, and I swear I will quit for good!”
“You don’t even believe in-”

“Yeah. A date. You and me, the school dance.”

Your heart feels like it's beating so fast it's going to stop at any second. But you nod, your face warm, and there's no way you can stop yourself from smiling now.
“Um, y- yeah.” You stammer before clearing your throat softly. “Yes.” You say, more confident in your answer. “Yes, I would.. love to go with you. On a date. To the dance.”

You made a mistake, and Jason stopped talking to you. Except at night, because thats when Red hood watches you.
