Summary
You lived in the city for a time, living a fairly normal life. Monsters have been on the surface for roughly four years, and society has been slowly adapting to them - some good, some bad. Then one day, a skeleton shows up on your stoop with a box of cereal. While you aren't exactly ready for this, you hesitantly extend your hand in friendship. Nothing could have prepared you for how much your life was about to change in so many ways.
EDIT: It's 2026 - I have not come back to this story for a long time. It sits on my mind often, and I do want to complete it. I'm at a different part of my life now, which makes writing the drama/angst difficult; which honestly is some of the good stuff. The ending I have had in mind does not align with how I am as a person now, so I either have to rethink it, or commit to it and bite the bullet. I wanted to get plot-heavy with a little less fluff, but to be perfectly honest, I love the fluff. I enjoyed writing a dialogue-heavy story, and evolving the characters in what I felt was a natural way.
If you've read this for a long time, I love and appreciate you. New readers, welcome. I don't know when I'll update next. Hopefully this year. Much love.

Summary
You're dying.
There's none of the panic or denial you might expect from such a realisation – just calm acceptance. Maybe even relief.
You're dying and that's okay.
Perversely, your last thought before the darkness claims you is Sans. Heh, he's going to be so mad. You've royally messed up his plans now, whatever they are... were. It's almost funny, imagining the lazy skeleton all pissed off. At least you have that warm image to accompany you to the grave.
***
The world has turned to shit in the forty years since Frisk and Toriel's untimely deaths. Monsters rule the surface in quiet despair, while human resistance factions - fueled by an unrelenting hatred - continue to prod at the festering wounds left by a war few really wanted.
Sans has a plan to fix it though. He'll have to flirt with the fine line between what's right and what's best, but if everything pans out the way he hopes...
The end will justify the means.
Unfortunately, he needs your help to pull it off, and you're far from being the most cooperative rebel he's ever met.
