Mina pauses with the door open just a sliver. Bram presses forward, stepping up to meet her wary gaze through that sliver of space. “Just for Jack’s sake. Please, Miss Murray. With sweet Lucy missing -”
That does the trick. Mina gives a long sigh, but she pulls the door open again.
“For Jack’s sake,” she says, warningly, as she gestures for Bram to step inside. “They must have misidentified that body. Jonathan’s alive, and I can prove it.”

Summary
Jennifer Daniels is presumed dead by the time Jade Brody, homeless, penniless, and a little burn-scarred, gets stranded halfway through Indiana.
When a boy turns up dead in the woods, though, Jade realises that maybe it's no coincidence that she's stuck here in Hawkins. The town seems as placid as Lake Placid on the surface, but it's got a history as full of myth and murder as Proofrock. Or maybe even more. If there was a place in Middle America where a slasher was going to rise from the dead, Hawkins is it. And Jade already has a solid theory about who it might be.
But the more Jade digs, the more questions she unearths. People in Hawkins seem...almost unusually dedicated to making sure the past stays in the past. Jade can't be certain, but she thinks she's being followed.
Maybe most concerning of all, though, she's starting to think the abandoned boathouse where she's been crashing might actually be haunted.
Jade's starting to doubt everything she thinks she knows about the town's lore. And maybe more importantly, reconsidering her theory about just who - or what - exactly is rising here in Hawkins. And why.
After all, what kind of name for a slasher even is Eddie?
