“A couple pretty words, stepping a little too close?” Kaiser stalks closer, tossing his own soccer ball to the side. “If that’s all it takes,” he says, dropping his voice, “I think I could ruin you in seconds, Yoichi.”

He feels it first: the fingers on his shoulder blades, all ten of them. Kaiser’s hands are on his shoulders and his thumbs are drawing circles into them slowly, gingerly, as if he'll break if Kaiser presses any harder.
When Isagi's metavision gets out of control, Kaiser's there to help ground him.

There was never the tell-tale flex of his husband’s jaw like that of someone with rage boiling beneath their skin, ready to strike. Isagi’s eyes never got dark and clouded with alcohol, never stared at Kaiser with pure disgust. Isagi’s never wrapped hands around his neck, never made him shiver in fear or beg for his own life, limbs flailing- he never called him trash, worthless, pathetic.
There were so many other things to feel besides resentment.
That’s why the envelope in his hands means nothing.
