And as Eddie stands to pull Buck up from the bed, he realises that the t-shirt Buck had put on was one of his own. A muted orange that Eddie hadn’t even realised he still owned. It was old and well-loved, Eddie remembers wearing it when he was laid up in bed after coming back from Afghanistan with ghosts running rampant in his mind and aches all over his body. It looks out of place against Buck’s jeans — but Buck wearing his clothes always feels so right.
Eddie lets his finger linger over the familiar printed words and the hole that’s near one of the armpits, he pokes his finger through it and tickles the side of Buck’s ribs. It makes Buck squirm and let out a choked laugh, a small smile that reaches his eyes appears.

Five times Buck steals Eddie’s clothes and one time Eddie gives them to him.

“You don’t deserve him,” Eddie says. “You never have, and you never will.”
And then he hangs up the phone and lets out a ragged breath - one it sounds like he’s been holding for much longer than the length of that conversation.
It makes Buck’s fingers itch with the urge to reach out and touch him. He’s reached through fire and over cliff sides, across blood-soaked asphalt and between a decades worth of trauma, all for Eddie. This - this is nothing.

Summary
Buck was just doing his best to focus on his work and not think about the shitty dinner with his parents, Maddie, Chim, and Albert. He was doing good at distracting his mind ... until he parents walked into the station. Forcing him into a conversation he didn't want to have. And he is just so ... so very done with them. He wasn't a little kid anymore.
It's really their own fault for saying so many horrible things about and to him around his chosen family.

He realizes he ... never actually told her something important. He didn't do it on purpose, he just forgot. Eddie knew. But Eddie was different. He talked to Eddie about everything.
