Summary
When a child is conditioned to believe that abuse is normal, anything slightly different is a crime, an abnormality. The child learns that every action has a hidden agenda, that kindness is a ploy to get the upper hand on them. They learn that any sign of weakness is a cause for punishment. They learn that fear will be their biggest enemy and will be the culprit for their death.
Zuko was lucky to be born, his father's disappointment.

Zuko - or rather Lee - became a scribe in the Beifong's estate. It's a fresh start, with a solid cover story, no disgrace, and failure attached to his name. Yet, he still tries to find a way to make things right, to regain all that he's lost. He hasn't given up on being himself.

Summary
Zuko didn't escape from the North Pole with Iroh. He stays unconscious and is taken prisoner by the Water Tribe. The waterbenders are furious and blame him for the siege, and demand answers Zuko doesn't have. The solstice is coming and firebenders don't do well without the sunlight.
The gaang has to decide if they will leave Zuko in the darkness or take him with them to the Earth Kingdom where he can be imprisoned without suffering the sun deprivation.
A different and lonely journey for the Prince of the Fire Nation.
