“Exactly!” Monoma exclaimed, too offended at his current situation to have any offense left to direct toward Kendou’s comment.

And then that same general education kid places first during the beginning round of the Sports Festival. Neito can’t help but stare.
The Sports Festival was supposed to be a place where he showed his stuff. Showed off what he could do. Showed off his quirk to its fullest extent.
It was a carefully calculated risk Monoma took when he joined the quirkless kid’s team for the cavalry battle.

Monoma takes his bullying of Class A too far and Vlad King has enough. Monoma is sentenced to staying in Class A until he shapes up. But Vlad King, Class A, and Class B all discover a few things they didn’t know about Monoma.
Or: Monoma's mother expects perfection from him and loves conditionally and is overall an emotionally-abusive parent (though Monoma doesn't realize it and strives to please her). As a result Monoma goes overboard in showing off and being arrogant because he is terrified that if he fails too much his teacher and classmates won't care about him anymore either.

Neito rowed his elbows through the crowd, the hubbub around him progressively growing as more and more people noticed the large carmine stain on the floor. Panicked shouts started to fuse, the students and teachers all yelling over one another.
“Where is Recovery Girl?!”
“She’s busy healing a boy who broke all his limbs.”
“All his limbs?!”
A squad of helpers and nurses flowed into the huge stadium, where thousands of people sat on bleachers high up, only able to watch as a student laid in his own pool of blood. A team of four people pushed the pupils aside, taking place around the body ahead of Neito. The blond boy slowly made his way further, until the drag of the mass and people ignoring him got too much of a pain. He roughly pushed a girl aside, not caring an ounce if she fell.
“I can help! I can heal him!” He screamed at the top of his lungs.
