The wind up here was strong and the cold felt like it was biting his skin even through his ratty old hoodie he’s had since he was maybe ten. Tim had considered dressing a little nice for tonight but he didn’t think it would matter when things were said and done.
Tonight was his birthday.
Tonight was his thirteenth birthday.
It was the third in a row his parents forgot or just couldn’t be there, ‘something came up, we can do something when we get back’. It’s what they said every time and then forgets all over again when they did come back. They hardly stayed long enough to remember their promise, never stayed longer than to pack up to just leave again.

Robin was yelling at him.
Robin was here, not on the other side of his camera lens. No, he was sitting on top of Tim and yelling at him after saving him. Robin had snatched Tim out of the air and stopped him.

Summary
Jason’s gaze snagged on a figure behind Tim, running towards them. Its arms were outstretched and its mouth wide open, a straggler from the swarm. Jason’s eyes widened, and Tim whirled as the zombie screeched. Jason’s eyes darted to Tim’s gun, watching almost in slow motion as Tim started to lift it. Both of them knew they wouldn’t be able to get their guns raised in time, but Tim wasn’t going down without a fight.
Tim braced himself for impact, mentally telling Jason goodbye. Jason would have enough time to get his gun up and kill the zombie before it finished with Tim. There was a slight chance Tim would survive if he was able to keep its jaw away, but the odds were slim.
Before he could do anything though, Jason’s arm was shoving in between him and the zombie. Tim’s eyes widened, and he raised his gun as teeth clamped down on Jason’s arm.Written For JayTim Week 2026, Day 7: Zombies, Undying Love
