Summary
When the Shire cannot honour its Treaty with Erebor, the dwarves enforce a contractual clause: one Hobbit must be sent to Erebor to marry the King as a sign of good faith. But with neither party at all willing and plans afoot to undermine the King, maybe an unwilling Bilbo Baggins is exactly what Erebor needs…

Summary
'What if I start a war?' he managed, a touch breathless, thumping Thorin on the shoulder when he chuckled.
'Then I have no doubt you will emerge victorious.'
****
Thorin is called away to the Iron Hills, leaving Bilbo to rule alone. Bilbo's authority (and patience) are tested by trials from both within his kingdom and beyond.
(Set in the Riven Crown verse - but can probably be read as a stand-alone.)

Summary
Thorin Oakenshield is no stranger to madness. He has seen it, heard it, lived it. Except now... now he feels it stirring within the stone, breathing, waiting in the corners of his mind. But he resists – for the sake of his people, his honor, and most of all, for his burglar. In the shadow of a mountain – and something darker still – Thorin tries to keep the sickness at bay, desperate to protect the hobbit who has become something far more precious than he ever intended. But the gold calls to him, the mountain whispers, and Bilbo… Bilbo shines too brightly to ignore.
Bilbo, ever brave and quietly brilliant, senses the change. He sees the cracks in Thorin's armor – the strain, the heat behind his gaze, the way his voice wavers, how his hands grip, hold, take. Still, Bilbo stays. He hopes.
But some reflections cannot be outrun. -

Summary
At Rivendell, Fili and Kili discover that Kíli bears a mark, proclaiming Bilbo to be his soulmate. Hobbits, however, do not have soulmates - and neither does Bilbo feel romantically attracted to Kili. But rejection by their one causes dwarves to wither and die, and Fili is not willing to sit by and watch that happen. Survival instincts and gold sickness do the rest.
