If a world born from sorrow can still bring joy, does it deserve to die with the one keeping it alive?
This story follows the uneasy aftermath of Renoir’s crusade against the Canvas. Renoir has relented, and the fate of the world he once sought to destroy now rests in Maelle’s hands. The fighting is over, but, as Clea might put it, the world does not stop simply because the family is mourning.
Caught in their orbit is someone who walks the fragile line between Writers and Painters. What begins as a temporary alliance with the Dessendre family slowly deepens into something far more intimate: an excavation of the grief buried beneath their name, a dying world where the family have quietly resigned itself to losing, and names no one dares to speak aloud.
But the longer he remains within Lumière, the harder it becomes to answer the question none of them can escape: if a false world can still give people something real, does its existence still count as a lie?
Alicia had a life to paint. But is a life to paint all she will ever be allowed to have?

Loss. They all knew that would be a word they would grow accustomed to once they left the safety of the Dome around Lumiére. What they didn't expect was how soon they would become acquainted. After losing Gustave, a new man joins Expedition 33. Verso is a handsome albeit curious man who seems to hide much about himself.
The only one who doesn't seem overly bothered by his behavior is Chloé. A 30-year-old woman who mostly keeps to herself. Her companions know very little about her until Verso comes along. Somehow, he manages to drag her out from behind her thick walls. Still, both of them carry secrets with them that might not lead them to the conclusion they each long for.
