The creature almost looked human.
Almost.
Lanky, pale, wet red hair long enough to crawl down its back. It seemed completely human, if not for the legs that trembled like a fawn.
If not for the eyes that stared without blinking. If not for the eyes with slit pupils and the faintest muted glow.
Or the gills. And the glassy skin, not a scar in sight despite its records.
The creature was scared? Angry? No. It was just… Distressed.
Or;
The Z-Team finds an old experiment from Shroud. But this one was biologically and genetically engineered, not mechanical.

Robert was used to this by now, the slack jawed surprise as they realized just who it was they were talking to, and oh good god it’s-
“Mechaman?” He finished his sentence, more than ready to disappear from this conversation. “That’d be me. In the flesh, or whatever.”
He tried for a smile, but the muscles there could only muster a pained grimace. It didn’t seem to matter as his audience of one stared at him with a nervous, starstruck energy practically dripping off him.
“YES!”
