Fucking mind blowing. A wonderfull contradt with all the others (if not a big majority) of waterbae fics being just sex. All the toughts think was really nice as well for the respect of the character personalitys (especially in the beginning) and the insecure/anxious parts of it.

Summary
The fight between Robert and Shroud ends much differently. He had still gotten away in the nick of time and the bomb had still been stuck to his suit. However, the explosion had left Robert with injuries so severe that it was a miracle he'd survived. Regardless of how life-altering his injuries were, SDN was still willing to take a chance on Robert. Managing his disabilities and mentoring the team was the hardest balancing act of his life.
Will Robert fuck up his only chance of becoming Mecha Man again? Or will he manage to contain it all, and find himself growing a little too close to a certain flaming asshole?

For many reasons, over many situations, over many shifts Robert has had his head on his desk listening to the worst news unfold around him. Despite this: he’s stuck around. Turns out, becoming and staying a Dispatcher had been the right call. Even after the Shroud Red Ring chaos, even with the Astral Pulse, even with the rebranded suit, Robert doesn’t want to sit in the cockpit anymore. Choosing to sit at a desk instead. Turns out, he reaches and saves more people that way all along.
That is until today.
