Chapter Text
“The Decepticons are looking for something.”
Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots, looked at his old friend to see him look away from the screens to stare at him. Ratchet looked troubled, and if Optimus was honest then so was he. They had noticed that the Decepticons were going on more patrols, making it almost impossible to get anymore energon.
“They are.” Optimus agreed as he walked towards his old friend.
“They already have their claws in every energon mine, what could they be looking for?” Ratchet wondered as he glared at his screens.
“It is likely that they aren’t looking for energon mines,” Optimus said, grateful that the children were in school at the moment. “Until they give an indication of what they’re looking for—”
“Which I doubt they will.” Ratchet snarked.
“Then we will just have to hope we find it first.” Optimus said as he glanced at his old friend.
Ratchet stared and then sighed. “I just wish we knew what it was that we were looking for.”
Optimus didn’t respond but silently agreed.
It was quite a while before Lucifer went back to Earth.
He could have done so before but sometimes he just lost track of time when he’d be… well, doing nothing. Depression was a hell of a thing. So, when he had been having tea, he realized it had almost been a month since he last snuck off to Earth. Maybe it was time for another secret trip.
With a grin, Lucifer opened a portal and carefully stepped through. He smirked when no one stopped him. Although if he saw someone like Sera, he’d probably shit his pants.
This time, however, he didn’t want to risk running into the robots, so he changed his appearance to look more human.
He was back in Jasper, Nevada, since he found it was a quaint town. Besides, he might see that other robot he had seen before.
As he walked through the town, he noticed that various humans were giving him strange stares. He looked at himself, but he was immaculate as always. So, he didn’t know why they were staring. It couldn’t be his suit. He looked rather sharp, if he said so himself.
So, ignoring the stares, he continued on his way and looked around the town curiously. The difference between Hell and Earth was astounding to him. Surely, if he was in a city, it would look more like Pentagram city? He wouldn’t know unless he visited one but it made him nervous. A large crowd of humans didn’t sound appealing.
He wandered long enough that the sun began to set and he stared at the pink hue of the sky. A smile crossed his face before he sighed. It was best to head back now. He heaved another sigh and carefully looked around to check if he was alone.
He saw a kid staring at him.
They both jumped lightly when their eyes connected. They then stared at each other awkwardly.
Lucifer hesitated before he waved a hand. “Hi there!!!”
Oh, wow, he was speaking to a human. A human!!!
The human gave a hesitant wave back. “I like your suit.” He said with an awkward smile.
Lucifer beamed. “Thank you !!” He fixed the lapels on his suit jacket. “I like your, uh, glasses.”
The child pushed up his glasses and nodded. Well, this was mighty awkward. Now that he thought about it, it might be suspicious if a grown man was seen talking with a child. Lucifer cringed and cleared his throat.
“Well, I should be off, it was nice to meet you.” Lucifer tipped his hat. He began to turn away when he saw the vehicle the child was standing next to. He whistled. “Whoa, look at that!!”
It was a nice car, he thought, as he circled it. Yellow with black racing stripes. He had no idea what kind it was, he wasn’t a big car demon, but he thought it looked very, very beautiful. He was about to leave when the child spoke up.
“He—uh, it’s a Camaro.” He said as he smiled at the car.
Lucifer whistled again. “Very nice. Your parents must be car fans.” He didn’t know how else to phrase it but whatever.
The child looked to the side. “T-They sure are!!” He opened the side door. “W-Well, it was nice to meet you, mister, but I got to go!!”
Lucifer waved a goodbye and watched as the car drove off. He then looked around carefully before he opened a portal back to Hell, making sure no one noticed before he closed it behind himself. He fixed his suit and was about to change into his night clothes when he paused.
Wait.
Who drove the car?
Time passed again before he ventured back to Earth. No one stopped him so he grinned as he began to grow in size. It’s been long enough that the robots probably forgot about him, right? He wanted to go flying again, to go as fast as he can.
It had been long enough that the form felt somewhat uncomfortable, so he began to stretch and wiggled his wings. That made him feel foolish but whatever. He held up his hands and flexed them, hearing them make clicking sounds as his fingers hit his palm. Good, that’s what a robot sounded like, right? Probably.
Lucifer hopped in spot and winced when the ground cracked from his weight. Well, he hoped that was from the transformation. He then looked around and noted that he was in the middle of a forest. He had no idea where he was and maybe that was a good thing. The robots wouldn’t know where to look for him.
He transformed and took off into the sky, flying through the air and whooping when he let loose. He rarely got to fly as fast as he wanted. This was great!!
It took a moment, but he remembered the robots and decided what the hell, they had no way of finding him, so he decided to put them out of mind.
Besides, what are the odds that they could track him?
“Master!!” Starscream yelled as he turned around. “Soundwave has picked up the seeker’s signal!!”
Megatron turned around to look at Soundwave’s visor, seeing it blinking with a signal. He narrowed his optics, glancing at Starscream to see him sulking. No doubt he still felt bitter that this jet almost lost him. He ignored him and looked at Soundwave.
“Send out troops to apprehend him.” Megatron ordered.
Lucifer flew as fast as he could, whooping as he did so. This was so amazing!! He was a robot and he was going as fast as he could!! When was the last time he went so fast? He couldn’t even remember. Isolating himself for so long probably didn’t help either.
With his mood sobering, he slowed down considerably.
His wife leaving really messed him up.
Or maybe it was ex-wife now…
Lucifer sighed as he debated on heading back home to just sulk when he saw a portal open in the distance.
What the…?
He was alarmed to see several jets fly out and quickly head for his direction. Fuck!!! He forgot the robots had portals, too!! He dodged them as he flew by, letting out another curse when they circled around to follow him.
“Not today!!” Lucifer called out as he sped up.
He was about to open a portal(he didn’t even care if he crashed into his palace) when one opened right in front of him. Lucifer gasped as he went through, seeing the large ship from before in front of him. Oh, this was not good.
Lucifer opened another portal to end up somewhere else(he had to get out of here) and transformed to land on the ground. Except he misjudged it and fell quite a distance and hit the ground with a loud crash.
He was sprawled on the ground. “Ugghhh, fuck.” Lucifer groaned from his spot on the ground.
He took too long to recover, however, and a portal opened for more robots to come through. They transformed and landed around him in a circle. Lucifer placed his hands on the ground, slowly pushing himself up as he looked around.
“Uh… hi.” Lucifer said with a nervous smile.
Optimus frowned when Ratchet gestured him to walk to the console.
“The Decepticons are mobilizing.” Ratchet looked at the screen with a concerned frown. “If I didn’t know any better then I would say that they found what they were looking for.”
“Open a groundbridge.” Optimus ordered, seeing Ratchet nod and turn towards the computer. “We must stop the Decepticons before they get what they want.”
“Okay, I know we’re tense,” Lucifer said, holding up his hands to hold off the robots. “But if we can all calm down and go our separate ways, I think that would be best.” He said with his best smile.
They didn’t say anything, they just pointed their weapons in his direction as they began to draw close. Lucifer frowned and looked around. Okay, he had a feeling they weren’t in a talking mood. He looked at the ground and furrowed his metal eyebrows.
Metal eyebrows?
Is that what he should call them??
Whatever, he debated on just opening a portal underneath him and just dropping into his home when another portal opened. The robots turned towards it and Lucifer looked, too. Another group of colorful robots ran out and began shooting.
What the hell was going on?!
Lucifer gawked at the sight before he dropped to the ground to avoid being shot at. What was even happening right now?! He watched as the new group attacked the others and furrowed his eyebrows.
Weren’t they on the same side?
He watched the fight, wincing at some of the punches, before he began to sneak away. It was time to get faaaar away and portal back home. He didn’t want to get in the middle of whatever this was.
The colorful robots proved to be quite the fighters, defeating the other side quite quickly.
Optimus frowned down at the unconscious mechs before he looked around. He had thought that he had briefly saw a mech that he had never seen before. And there, just a few meters away, he spotted a mech slowly tiptoeing away. It didn’t take long for the others to spot him, too.
“Uh…?” Bulkhead pulled a face.
Did he seriously think they couldn’t see him?
“Who is that?” Arcee asked with a frown.
Bumblebee just shrugged.
Optimus furrowed his optic ridges before he took a step towards this mystery mech. “Excuse me.” He said politely.
Lucifer winced and turned to hold up his hands. “You don’t see me, I’m not here!!” He waved his hands mysteriously as he continued to sneak away.
He received befuddled stares from everyone.
Lucifer ignored that and decided, whatever, and turned to run away. There was a moment of stunned silence before he heard the robots give chase. He raised a hand to wave it and open a portal when he heard a strange noise and a motorcycle sped in front of him. He skidded to a stop and watched as the robot transformed(why did it look familiar?) and sighed in irritation.
“Aw, come on!!” Lucifer waved his arms and scowled.
“Wait!!”
Lucifer had heard the voice before but didn’t have a chance to appreciate it. He felt a shiver run down his back and turned towards the voice.
What a voice.
The robot(and whoa, he was huge) held a hand towards his direction as he slowly approached. Lucifer debated on still running but he paused when he saw the way the robot was looking at him. Something about this robot almost compelled him to stay. Maybe it was the look in his eyes…
“I am Optimus Prime.” He said, his hand raised towards Lucifer like he thought he might bolt.
Lucifer blinked in response.
What a name.
His parents clearly loved him.
Or did robots even have parents???
Something to ponder for another day. “Uh… nice to meet you?” Lucifer scowled when he saw that except for the robot that transformed into a motorcycle, he was shorter than everyone else. Was he doomed to be shorter than everyone? “What, uh… What was that about?” He motioned towards the passed out mechs.
The robot, Optimus, eyed him closely as he furrowed his optic ridges. “I imagine that it was over you.”
Lucifer frowned as he pointed at himself. “Me??? Why?”
And this went against the entire plan to avoid the robots.
He received many pointed stares from the robots. The yellow one beeped at him. Lucifer blinked and squinted at the robot.
“Come again?”
The yellow robot beeped again, this time slowly.
Lucifer frowned before he waved a hand. “Okay, one more time?”
The robots shared looks while the yellow robot glared at him and began to repeat himself.
“Because we’ve never seen you before?” The robot beeped again.
“There we go!!” Lucifer grinned in satisfaction before he paused. “Well, I’ve never seen any of you before either. What of it?” He asked with a confused frown.
Unknown to Lucifer, most of the surviving mechs of Cybertron were familiar with each other. There was not a mech that didn’t know each other. Even neutrals were familiar with Autobots and Decepticons.
“Yeah…” The green one said with a look aimed at the motorcycle.
“Is there a reason the Decepticons are after you?” Optimus decided to move the conversation along.
Lucifer stared at the unconscious mechs before he shrugged with a shake of his head. “No idea?”
At this point Lucifer wanted to go home and watch his soap operas before he went to bed. This was faaaar more than what he was expecting when he decided to go for a flight today. He frowned when he realized that he was surrounded by the new robots.
“I’m afraid I am going to have to ask you to come with us.” Optimus said as he gestured towards the green portal.
Lucifer paused before he boggled at the robot.
“Come again???”
“You are in danger with the Decepticons after you,” Optimus said with a troubled frown. “We know not why the Decepticons are after you, but you will be safer with us.”
Lucifer gawked and he widened his eyes.
Aw, shit.
