Work Text:
Eva knew she was going to be sentenced to prison she knew it from the start, no government would just give free reign to a person to handle a global crisis without needing to blame someone for all of the damages and faults. It was all part of a system that Eva had grown to know well over the many many years she had worked in the petrova task force. She still remembered the trial the countless charges listed by the judge wich she of course was found guilty of. The spectacle was all over the news of course it would be people would calm down after finding that singular person to blame everything on.
Eva sat on the floor of her cell on that thin mattress they issued to the prisoners frankly it was not the most comfortable to sleep or to sit on but she got used to it like she got used to the horrible food and unpleasant conditions of the prison.
There wasn't a lot to do expect stare at a wall or cause a fight in the cafeteria neither of those options sounded appealing but maybe staring in the wall wouldn't get her locked in solitary. Eva still got creeps from there locked in a cell all alone with those bright overhead lights that flickered every now and then her only company the numerous pests in the cell.
The way she was dragged to the cell too it had left blooming bruises onto her wrists and she could swear her ribbone almost broke from being thrown into isolation.
She had a lot of time to think in prison she was in her head most of the time thinking about the cooling climate if anything she did helped or was it all in vain and mostly about Ryland Grace. Had he survived? Was he even alive and would the solution manage to even arrive on time if there was a solution. She had the urge to rip her graying hair out of her scalp to feel something to escape the thoughts but that felt too hard to do.
She had tried all the methods she had ripped her nails bare, picked at her skin till it bled, hit her head into the wall it was useless she spiraled anyways just with a side of theobbing pain and risk of being thrown into solitary due to lack of hospital beds. Eva had prided herself in her composure how she had managed to box up all of her emotions and keep the away for the sake of the mission but now in prison she felt those repressed emotions bubble over with no healthy way to cope and no one to help her.
