Chapter Text
“Welcome everyone! To the new season of Total Drama. I’m your host Chris Mclean and this is…Total Drama Backstage!” Chris is wearing his signature outfit, standing on the dock at Wawanakwa. The sky is a clear blue, the sun working well for the lighting. The waves are gentle and the birds are chirping, the perfect background for a (in his opinion) perfect host.
Chris turned to chef, “was that good?”
Chef grunted and nodded, “Yup.”
“Do I have enough hairgel?” The narcissistic host ran a hand through his hair, brows furrowed.
“Yup,” Chef sighed.
A dazzling smile appeared on the hosts face as he turned to the camera.
“We have brought back 24 contestants to duke it out again in hopes receiving a whopping ONE MILLION dollars!
Due to health and safety, and threats from Courtney’s lawyers, we have retuned to the original island where it all started. No toxic waste this time around! Unfortunately…”
Chef coughed and Chris frowned at him. “Anyway, introducing our campers for this summer, we have…”
“Aw hey Chip! It’s so good to see you again!” Chirped a sweet voice.
Chris sighed, “it’s Chris, and Lindsay, you’re not supposed to speak before I ask you to!”
“Oh sorrry,” she came into the cameras view. “I thought I was supposed to! You were speaking for so long…”
A chuckle escaped chef, Lindsay smiled at the hulky man, who looked at scene with amusement. “Will we have real food this time?” She innocently asked
The smile on Chefs face disappeared, and he grunted “You’ll have whatever the damn food I feel like making.”
Chris pushes both of them out of frame, moving the camera to focus on him.
“Next up, we have the girl that went commando and…which intern wrote this script? That’s not appropriate! Find out who tried to embarrass me on live TV and let them know they’re fired,” the host yells out.
“Anyway, we have…Zoey!”
“Hey guys!” The redhead steps onto the dock. She smiles at everyone nervously.
“Woww, your hair looks so pretty!” Gushed Lindsay.
Zoey lets out a nervous chuckle, running her hand through it, it had grown out since Revenge Of the Island, and now reached her mid-back. “Really? I wasn’t sure if I should trim it or not.”
Lindsay shook her head, “it’s so healthy! And I know what I’m talking about, cause I was on Star Stalker magazine.” The blondes voice is filled with pride and Zoey smiles back.
Chris looks irritated, “enough about hair! Next on the list we have everyone’s favourite criminal, it’s….Duncan!”
“What’s up losers.” Duncan steps onto the dock, he looks at Zoey and raises a brow. “Nice hair,” he smirks.
The redhead looks worried and says, “o-oh I’m taken! Sorry.”
A laugh escapes Duncan, and Zoey turns red with embarrassment, “All good red, I wasn’t hitting on you, I’ve got my own girl.”
He glares at Chris, “where is Gwen?”
The host huffs, “wow how impatient! This is what I signed up for! Ungrateful, the lot of you. Anyway, the next person is someone who has been called a boyfriend stealer and the new Heather, it’s…Gwen!”
Gwen walks on, narrowing her eyes at the host. “Did you really have to introduce me like that?” She sighs and walks next to Duncan, leaning against his side, but she nods quickly at Zoey and Lindsay.
The host shrugs, “if the shoe, or term, fits.” He gives a cheeky smile. “Speaking of boyfriend stealing, Courtney, come on out!”
Duncan and Gwen immediately jump apart when Courtney stomps in. “You! How could you! Do the two of you not have any dignity? How could you just cuddle in front of me like! I’m going to CRUSH you pathetic little worms into the ground this summer, mark my words!” She sighs and straightens her jumper, and looks calmly at Lindsay and Zoey, who are watching silently with wide eyes.
“Lindsay,” Courtney says contemptuously, not forgetting the movie date from Action.
Lindsay frowns, “Corina,” she greets back much to the irritation of Courtney.
Zoey winces and smiles back, shuffling on her feet side to side. “I’m Zoey, it’s nice to meet you Courtney.”
Courtney’s gaze is cool as it assesses the redhead. “I suppose it’s a pleasure as well, Zoey.”
Chris rubs his hands together, “I knew bringing these three back was a good idea! My favourite moneymakers!” The three in question all give dirty looks to the host, who ignores them.
Confessional
“I don’t care about Duncan or Gwen! My goal this summer is to win that mil and get myself to law school. I am going to be president someday, it won’t look good if I embarrass myself further on TV.” Courtney states, frowning as she flicks a fly off her shirt.
“I could call them so many names, like boyfriend kisser, cheater, troll, but I won’t! And it’s not because I…” she trails off, looking upset. “I DO not care about either of them!” She points angrily at the camera, leaving the confessional and slamming the door.———————————————————————
“Wow, that Courtney sure is scary!” Zoey laughs nervously. “Maybe it’s a good thing Duncan wasn’t actually hitting on me…”
Confessional - End
“Next up! We have the girl who is in it to win it, Jo!”
Jo comes on, a smirk on her face. “So these are the losers who think they can win, figures!” The rest of the contestants frown. She notices Zoey, “oh hey apology breath, how’s the real world been treating ya?”
Zoey looks offended, “fine, actually.”
Chris smirks, “ahh tension tension, next up, we have Bridgette!”
“Hey everyone!” The surfer steps onto the dock, surfboard in hand. Courtney smiles at her, a proper one.
“Bridgette! What a relief to have you here.” Courtney sighs, Bridgette smiles back and gives Courtney a hug.
“Careful Malibu, try not to concuss anyone with that board of yours.” Duncan calls out, causing Gwen to laugh.
Bridgette rolls her eyes fondly, setting the board down towards the side. Courtney frowns at this interaction, especially when Bridgette greets Gwen with a hug as well.
“Bridgette?” Courtney glares at the surfer, “why are you being nice to those two?!”
Bridgette winces, “listen Court…what they did was wrong but I’m not going to stop being friends with them. I think it’s been long enough where we can just let the situation rest. I know you’re hurt, but I think it would be better if we all worked through it together.”
Courtney looks surprised then offended. “Well I suppose you’d have sympathy,” Courtney spits out cruelly, “especially when you cheat on your boyfriend on live TV!”
Everyone gasps and both Chris and Jo smirk.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Bridgette says with irritation in her voice.
Courtney scoffs, “it means your morals are so shot that it’s no wonder you support those two! Let me say this Bridgette, you have just lost a friend and gained an enemy.”
Bridgette looks hurt by this. “Fine, if that’s the way you want to play it.” She walks over and stands near Duncan and Gwen, who smile reassuringly at her. Courtney scoffs and tilts her body away from them.
A wail is heard in the distance, Chris sighs. “Everyone, we have…Katie!”
“Sadie! Where’s Sadie! How could you take her from me!” The tan girl wails. “You’re all so cruel, we’re never meant to be apart from each other!
“She didn’t make the cut! And quit the whining, it makes for awful TV” Chris snaps, he sighs and quickly changes the topic. “Moving on, we have everyone’s favourite evil couple, it’s…Heather and Alejandro!”
The two step off the boat, not a single competitor greets them. Alejandro’s arm is around Heathers waist.
“I see they’re too intimidated,” Heather says smugly.
“Yes Mi Amor, it seems our prowess at the game has offended everyone here.” He smirks, looking over the competitors, his eyes raking over a nervous Zoey.
Gwen scoffs, “no one is intimidated, I think we’re all expecting you guys to be voted off first anyway.”
Heather narrows her eyes, “watch it, boyfriend stealer. At least I haven’t ruined someone relationship.”
Courtney smiles smugly, and Gwen snaps back. “You tried to ruin my relationship with Trent in season one!”
Heather fake yawns. “Bo-ring, can we get a move on? Or has Chris aged beyond his ability to host.”
The host pouts, “watch it guys! New rule: no insulting the host. Next up we have someone who won’t be able to insult me, cause he never talks! B, you’re up.”
B walks on, shooting finger guns at everyone. His introduction is brief, something the host is relieved at as he checks his watch.
“Next up, we have Geoff!”
The party boy hops off the boat, Bridgette runs to him and she jumps into his arms. “Hey!” She laughs as he spins her around. He places her down and gives her a quick peck before nodding to the host. “Host dude, what’s up.” But before Chris can reply he walks quickly up to Duncan, high fiving the criminal and nods at Gwen, who gives him a small smile. He glares at Alejandro and pointedly stands between him and Bridgette.
Chris sighs, “thanks for giving me a chance to reply, dude.” His tone is sarcastic, “Next off the boat we’ve got Staci!” He mumbles under his breath, “can anyone say first boot much.”
The girls chatter is endless and irrelevant. “Hey everybody! I’m so totally stoked to be here, did you know my nephews great aunts dog walkers neighbour invented reality TV? Without her everyone used to have to enter giveaways to win prize money from rich billionaires who would hoard it all! Which totally sucks as you have no control over your chances. Speaking of chances, did you know that my great grandpas cleaners husbands bosses niece created the idea of-“
“SILENCE,” Chris snaps at Staci, who shuts up with an embarrassed look. “Next-“
“Already popping that one vein in your forehead, Mclean?” A dry voice drawls as he steps off the boat.
“I do not have a vein in my forehead! Anyway, popular demand has asked for our resident egghead to be brought back-“
“My my, popular demand?” Duncan laughs, Gwen elbows him.
Noah smirks, “trust me, I was just as surprised as you are piercings.” He looks at the other contestants. “Eel, how have you been doing? Hope it wasn’t too bad when your girlfriend left you stuck in a robot suit for some money instead.”
Alejandro frowns, “I can assure you amigo, I have been doing fine. As for Heather leaving me-“ Heather elbows him, “there is no hard feelings, so I hope you and I can push aside our differences for the sake of civility.”
Noah chuckles, “fat chance, I’d take my chances with Crazy-A over you.” Courtney’s protests can be heard in the background.
When Noah goes to stand near Gwen and Duncan, Duncan elbows him. “Hey man, I just wanted to say, I’m sorry for voting you off in world tour. I hate how I didn’t trust my gut when it came to the eel.” A bitter tone is heard in Duncan’s voice, and Noah remembers that Alejandro almost caused Geoff and Bridgette to break up.
Noah raises a brow, “wow, I wasn’t expecting that.” He nods, “we’re cool, I don’t have any raging issues with you, unlike little miss psycho,” he nods at Courtney, who is giving the group death stares.
The host checks his watch again, “next we have…Tyler!”
“Tyler?” Lindsay tilts her head. “But I thought he wasn’t coming back.” Her attention is captured by the boats horn.
“Lindsay!” Tyler runs off the boat and trips, but quickly stands and runs to her, she squeals and runs into his arms. The two don’t hesitate to descend into kisses and the host wrinkles his nose.
“Disgusting, next up, we have Beth!”
“Hey guys! It’s so incredulous to see everyone again.” The girl has lost her braces and her lisp now, she steps off the boat and looks at Lindsay and Tyler.
“Hey Lindsay!” She tries to get the blondes attention but Lindsay is too focused on reuniting with Tyler, Beth looks hurt.
A chuckle escapes Heather and Beth glares, “no one wants to hear you Heather!”
Heather raises a brow mockingly, “did someone gain a pair after her braces came off? Give me a break, not even your ‘best friend’ remembers you!”
“Hey! Lay off her.” Zoey frowns and steps forward, Heather scoffs but quietens, leaning into Alejandro.
“Thanks!” Beth walks over to Zoey, looking at her gratefully.
A boat horn is heard again and a petite girl with long pale hair steps off the boat, assessing everyone with a gentle gaze.
“Our resident aura reader, and someone who got voted off after stealing, it’s Dawn!”
“Framed for stealing!” She corrects quickly, stepping off the boat, she raises a brow. “It seems we’re all feeling a bit tense today, I assume we all want to avoid specific people?”
“You read our minds,” Noah drawls.
Dawn frowns and corrects him. “No, I read your auras.”
Noah laughs, “you made an educated guess, we’re all teenagers who have been on reality Tv, of course we don’t all get along.”
Confessional
“That Dawn girl, she’s a bit creepy…” Noah states. “She’s not as crazy as Izzy, thank the lord, and she’s at least more appealing to look-“ he glares at the camera and walks out the confessional.———————————————————————
“That Noah, what a cynic!” Dawn says worriedly, “it can’t be that healthy! His aura showed a lot of grey too, dull and not content at all. I hope I can help him…”
Confessional - End
“Next up is fangs favourite food, it’s Scott!”
“Oh shut it Mclean,” the ginger grumbles. “I can’t believe you all came back!”
“Um, so did you!” Jo pointed out. “I’d be worried too Rat catcher, we all know your tricks now.”
“Such as framing me,” Dawn adds.
Scott frowns at her. “Ok little miss aura, and what if I said-“
Dawn snaps her fingers and suddenly Fang jumps on the dock, “what did you want to say?” She asks sweetly.
Scott pales and stammers out a ‘nevermind’ and she snaps her fingers. Fang jumps back into the water looking upset at the lack of a meal.
Noah raises a brow, “so you do have some bite,” he comments to Dawn. “I thought you’d be the hippie, no violence type.”
Dawn smiles, “I wouldn’t be the one responsible, and I can’t help it if Mother Nature intended for Fang to eat Scott.” Noah chuckles at her reply, and Duncan and Gwen share a quick smirk.
“Next we have bubble boy and his friend multiple Mike!”
Mike and Cameron step off the boat, frowning at Chris. Cameron goes on to state
“It’s actually derogatory to refer to people with Dissociative Identity Disorder in that way, it can create-“
“Quiet!” Chris snaps, “I said no insulting the host.”
“But I wasn’t insulting, I was correcting-“
“New rule; no correcting the host.”
“Mike! Cam! Hey guys.” Zoey lightens as she walks over, giving them each a hug.
Mike grins, “hey Zo! How have you been!”
“Oh I’ve been…” The camera moves back to Chris, who sighs. “I don’t know why we got those three back, they’re the boring trio.” He grins at Courtney, Gwen and Duncan, “unlike you guys, am I right?” The three glare at him.
“Next up is Brick!”
“Fellow contestants! This is Brick MacArthur reporting for duty!” He gives a quick salute and Jo scoffs.
“Save it GI joke, nobody gives a crap about military code here!”
Chris jumps in, “okay people we are on a rush! So I’m just going to bring out our last three contestants together, we have Lightning, Harold and Anna-Maria.”
“Sha-lightning is in the sha-house! But sha-lightning hates sharing and he is in it to win it!” Jo rolls her eyes at Lightnings declaration and Zoey glares at him.
“Gosh! Why did you shorten our introductions!” Harold frowned then saw Courtney’s glare and took a step back.
“Aw why’d you place me on the same boat as they losers? They stink ya know!” Her gaze rakes over lightening who’s too busy flexing his muscles. “He ain’t half bad though, hey red!” She calls out to Zoey, who jumps. “Is there anyway we could get ya boyfriend to bring Vito back? He was hawt with a capital H!”
“Uh, I don’t think so, sorry! Mike and I are committed.” Zoey says hesitantly, Anna-Maria rolls her eyes and turns away from the redhead.
“Because we’re running on a tight schedule, now let’s move onto the teams…
I’ve decided this season will be a throwback season, we’re going to have challenges inspired by previous ones. In spirit I have brought back the names the Screaming Gophers and Killer Bass!”
Noah mumbled, “someone’s running low on ideas,” and those around him chuckled. Chris shot him a glare.
“Anyway, our first team is the Screaming Gophers, and we have:
* Bridgette
* Geoff
* Gwen
* Duncan
* Courtney
* Harold
* Noah
* Dawn
* Lighting
* Staci
* Heather
* Katie
And on the Killer Bass we have:
* Tyler
* Lindsay
* Alejandro
* Beth
* Mike
* Zoey
* Jo
* Cameron
* Anna-Maria
* Scott
* B
* Brick
Enjoy!”
The contestants all look around each, noting friendships and relationships. Courtney looks particularly irritated.
“Why do I have two couples on my team! This should be against the rules!”
“So do we!” Jo says with a wrinkled nose, “this is awful! It’s a built in alliance.”
“Quit your whining! This is a disaster, Alejandro and I have been separated.” Heather scoffs. She leans into the Spanish man and glares at the other contestants, he looks thoughtful however.
“Looks like Satan himself decided the teams, why is Courtney here?” Duncan mumbles to Gwen, at the same moment Courtney glares at them both.
Noah looks at Dawn awkwardly, “guess we lucked out, huh? Great team dynamics.”
“It could use some work,” Dawn admits.
“Aw Tyler! We get to be together!”
“I miss Sadie!”
“It’ll be awesome working with you guys!”
“I aim to do what’s best for the team! Soldiers promise!”
“Aw damn it who took my hairspray out my bag! Hey dweeb, was it you?”
“Gosh you used it up on the boat yourself! Stop blaming me!”
“Oh I’ll blame him alright, he tampered with the votes in our first season!”
“Sha-lightning!”
“QUIET!” Chris screams through the microphone. The campers all look at him confused.
“You all are being surprised today! In a Total Drama first we are going to be hosting an elimination ceremony with no challenge.
Several cries of surprise and protest ring through the air.
“And it’s a double, one from each team, so get voting, stat.”
The contestants all look at each other unsurely, but slowly line up to take their votes, chattering and deciding as they do.
Confessional
“It’s a chance to sway the game!” Courtney states. “And it’s a chance to get ride of those who deserve it, like Gwen!
———————————————————————
Bridgette looks unsurely at the camera, “I don’t like this, it feels wrong voting without getting to know people.”
———————————————————————
Lindsay looks blankly at the camera, “can you remind me of the names again?”
———————————————————————
Alejandro smirks, “if you can’t beat them, then send them home.”
Confessional - End
At the elimination ceremony, Chris runs through the votes. “Interesting…we’ll start with the gophers” He grabs a bag of marshmallows and starts throwing them out to contests.
Bridgette…
Geoff…
Courtney…
Harold…
Lightning…
Heather…
Duncan…
Gwen…
Noah…
Dawn…”
“So it’s between Katie and Staci,” Chris smirks, “I guess it’s whoever annoyed the team the least today. Katie, you whined a lot lot about Sadie. Staci, im going to be honest, no one cared for what you said at all.” The two girls frown at the host, but look visible nervous.
“However the last marshmallow goes to
…
Katie!”
The girl sighs in relief and grabs her marshmallow.
Staci’s complaints are heard as she’s dragged onto the dock. “You’ll be hearing from my uncles cousin about this! He invented lawyers, I’m telling you…”
“As for the Bass
Tyler…
Lindsay…
B…
Anne-Maria…
Mike…
Zoey…
Brick…
Scott…
Jo…
Alejandro…”
Chris raises a brow, “Cameron and Beth? Did you guys decide to vote out a winner?” The two remaining contestants are shaking.
“The last marshmallow goes to
…
Beth”
The farm girl shakes from her nerves but catches the marshmallow, while Zoey stands. “This isn’t fair!” The redhead frowns, as the bubble boy is dragged away “why Cam?”
“Because,” Jo chimes in, “he WON, and we needed to break the three of you up somehow!” She smirks at the redhead, who frowns in response.
Chris laughs, “ahh the drama, see everyone next time!”
