Work Text:
Derek carefully opened the door to their bedroom.
And there he was — the prettiest creation to have graced the Earth.
The most important being in the entire universe.
His one and only.
His life.
Avery.
He watched his lover undressing as he stood by the door.
Avery was beautiful.
He reverently traced each curve of his body with his eyes; from his hips to his chest, down to his legs.
Avery was perfect.
The corners of his eyes softened as Avery fussed with his hair.
He smiled gently as he soaked in his lover's existence.
Avery was made of love and kindness.
His soul was the purest thing he had ever seen.
Avery, the light of his life.
What a wondrous thing it is, to be in love...
And then, Avery's gaze fell to the door. His gentle, inviting lips formed a smile Derek would die for.
He felt his knees weaken.
He would give anything for Avery.
"Derek." Avery's voice was the only melody he wanted in his life. The only instrument that played the sounds of his heart.
"Avery."
His lover slowly, tentatively made his way to him.
Derek watched in adoration.
He could only think about Avery.
He could only think about how much he loved him.
Finally, they were face to face.
Avery reached out, the palm of his hand resting against Derek's face. He traced the exhaustion spilled across his face, finding it and chasing it away with his sacred touch.
Derek sighed shakily as Avery leaned closer, his soft lips ghosting over his skin.
He wanted anything Avery could give.
He wanted to cherish everything Avery gave.
Derek let him do as he pleased, his eyes remaining only on Avery's face as he relished in every contour of it.
Avery let their lips meet, like a gentle caress.
Derek tenderly wrapped his arms around Avery's body, feeling his soft skin mold to his touch.
Avery kept kissing him, inviting Derek to reciprocate.
It was slow, like dancing under the rain.
They weren't in a rush, not now or ever.
The world had every right to stop, here in this very room.
Derek wished, for just a moment, that this could last an eternity.
Until he was brought back to Avery, back to the feeling of their lips finding one another. Back to the bridge between two souls, two bodies, two minds.
He was cleansed by Avery, by his love.
All he wanted was before him.
All he needed was before him.
Avery was everything good the universe held.
Derek let his hand slowly snake to the back of Avery's head, cradling it lovingly as he breathed Avery in.
Avery was his life, the oxygen in his lungs, the blood in his vessels.
And he couldn't get enough.
Avery gently tugged at the collar of his shirt, pulling him closer as he moved back.
Derek let Avery guide him, following him as a man starved of life itself.
Derek steadied Avery as his body hit the plush bed.
He watched his hair spill over the covers like the clouds across the sky.
"You're such an angel." He heard himself whisper as he touched the cheek of the only being he held dear.
"I love you." Avery's voice was hushed, honest. Intimate.
Derek felt as if the sun had come to bless him with its love.
"I love you too." But that was too bland, too simple for what he felt for the person in his embrace.
What he felt was beyond the worlds humanity knew, beyond the cosmos.
Beyond every possibility, ever.
What he felt for Avery was not able to be caged into words.
So he kept kissing Avery, trying to materialise his feelings and offer them as if it were his own bare heart.
He kissed into the soft flesh of Avery's neck.
He traced Avery's ribs with his lips.
He found and cherished every scar and curve of Avery's body.
He loved Avery with his entire body and soul.
He listened to the heavenly symphony of Avery's quiet sighs and stuttered breaths.
He left his marks, gentle bites of teeth into pliant flesh.
And Avery left his own, small crescent moons scattered across skin.
Avery couldn't get enough of their bodies becoming, connecting into one soul.
Derek melted into his warmth, the softness of Avery embracing his face and kissing his eyes.
He'd give anything to hear Avery call out his name as he drowned in pleasure and love, over and over again.
He whispered gentle words of encouragement, praise.
Avery held onto him, seeking closure and stability. All the things Derek was willing to give him.
The evening sun danced across Avery's glistening skin.
Derek watched in awe, counting each and every little constellation that had formed.
He sought out Avery's gaze, adoring the angelic glow of his eyes.
Avery was breathless and his hair was a beautiful mess, some strands gracefully falling over his face.
He looked like a work of art.
Derek tenderly let his lips graze Avery's mouth, open like a young flower under the morning dew. He kissed along the contours of his face, his eyes.
His eyes that were adorned with the prettiest lashes he'd ever seen.
Derek gingerly moved Avery's hair out of his eyes.
Their gazes met again and Avery exhaled, bringing Derek's nose to touch his own.
A breathy chuckle left Derek's lips.
He couldn't ever truly grasp how real this was.
He couldn't ever truly believe Avery wasn't just a dream.
His beauty was otherworldly.
"Avery."
He said his name like a prayer.
Avery was his devotion.
And he loved him more than he loved himself, more than he had ever loved anyone in the world.
Love is the only eternity he knew.
And loving was precious.
Opening your heart and soul before the one, the one person that made you believe eternal happiness was possible, was precious.
"Derek."
He could never grow tired of hearing his name spoken by Avery.
And as he whispered sweet nothings into Derek's ear, Avery pulled him back down.
He hugged Avery as they kissed, holding his starry-eyed lover close.
Derek smiled as he broke the kiss to admire the person before him, for just a bit.
Avery's laugh rang like the sweetest bells as Derek showered him with kisses.
The bed canopy danced in the soft breeze, the window bringing in the scent of clematis.
Sweet summer love.
