Work Text:
Juan hasn't seen his boyfriend in a few days, and he was going crazy from the lack of attention. It's not like Graf was ignoring him on purpose; they both just got busy with their respective ongoing projects — Juan with his multitude of painting commissions, and Graf with building the tenement houses at the Polish Cave. They still talked to each other through their communicators, but Juan missed actually spending time with Graf.
He missed Graf's voice and presence. And obviously, he missed kissing his boyfriend; could anyone blame him?
After finally finishing another painting off his long list, he decided to take a much-needed break instead of starting another one. He teleported to the Polish Cave, hoping to find Graf there.
As the outside of the cave materialized in front of him, he immediately caught sight of Graf, standing on a scaffolding platform and adjusting something in the newest set of houses. The build was coming along nicely; Juan had already seen some of it, but it looked even more impressive than the last time he had visited. At the bottom of the scaffolding, Ewron was leaning against a post, chatting away in Polish. Graf was humming in response every now and then, offering short replies, deeply focused on his work.
Juan stepped closer. Graf looked really good. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up, and his hair was messy, making him look a little roughed up in a way that made Juan's heart skip a bit. He had the same concentrating expression he always wore — brows slightly furrowed, lips in a pout. Juan wanted to kiss it off his face.
"Hello, Juan!" Ewron noticed him first.
"Oh, hi, Ewron!" he greeted back, giving Ewron a small wave, but his eyes were locked on Graf.
Graf's head snapped up from his build, and his eyes immediately landed on Juan. His gaze softened, and a small, surprised smile tugged on his lips.
"Hi, baby," he greeted. He set his tools down and climbed down the scaffolding to meet Juan. Juan wrapped his arms around Graf, desperate for the physical contact. Graf hugged him back, pulling him in and letting out a soft laugh.
"Okay, I see," Ewron said, looking at them with an amused expression, and then pulling out his own warpstone. "I'll leave you two alone; I'm gonna go talk to Ash."
With that, he disappeared, and they were alone. Juan felt a little bad about it, but he was glad to have a moment with just Graf. He had come to the Polish Cave to see him, after all.
"Did something happen?" Graf asked after a while. Juan realized he hadn't even said anything to greet him back; he had just pressed his face into his boyfriend's chest and stayed there for a while.
"No, nothing happened. Hi, Graf," he said, finally peeling himself away just enough to look up at his boyfriend. "Well, actually… Something did happen."
"Oh? What's that?" Graf asked with audible amusement. He could clearly tell Juan wasn’t upset with anything.
"I missed you," Juan said, and grabbed Graf's face, pulling him down and giving him a quick kiss on the lips. When he pulled back, he could feel his face warming up slightly. He felt a little pathetic about how desperate he was for Graf's affection, but he was just a person who needed constant attention, so not seeing Graf for a few days made him long for this.
Their relationship was still relatively new, and Juan was getting used to it. To having a boyfriend who cared for him and who he could just ask for things. That he was allowed to want his attention without it being too much for Graf.
Juan was still learning, day by day, that it was okay to ask for attention when he needed it, because deep down, he was terrified that if he showed how clingy he could get when he was in love, Graf would eventually pull away. That one day Graf would look at him and think he’s too much.
But Graf was proving him wrong, as he often tends to do. He was still by his side, even when Juan acted like this.
Graf looked at Juan for a while, studying his face carefully. Juan always felt so vulnerable under his gaze; it was as if Graf had made it his personal mission to see straight through every wall Juan had carefully put up over the years. And he was terrifyingly good at it.
"Oh, really?" Graf murmured, wrapping his arms more securely around Juan’s waist. Juan cupped his face again and tugged him down into another kiss, this time a longer one.
"We've both been busy, you can't blame me. I missed spending time with you," Juan said in between kisses. "You should take a break; I'm sure you need one. You've probably been working all day. I'm stealing you right now."
Graf let out a fond chuckle, his cheeks flushed a soft pink. The sight made Juan feel a little less embarrassed about how affected he was by just a few kisses. They were both still in the phase of testing the boundaries of their relationship, learning what they could and couldn't do. If it were entirely up to Juan, he would kiss Graf every chance he got, but he didn't want to scare the man away. Lately, he's been finding out it's not as easy to scare Graf away as he was afraid it might be.
"I could use a break," Graf replied. "I missed you too."
Juan felt his heart skip a beat at the words. It was such a small thing, but something about it made him feel good. Something about Graf needing him just as much as Juan did.
"Good," he said. "Because you're gonna make it up to me."
"Make it up to you? As far as I'm aware, you've been busy yourself, mister artist," Graf teased, raising his eyebrows.
Juan rolled his eyes fondly and grabbed Graf’s hand, lacing their fingers together. "Details," he muttered, already tugging him deeper into the cave, trying to find a secluded corner to kiss his boyfriend in.
They made their way over to the bedroom area. Fortunately for them, since Ewron left, the cave was completely empty except for the two of them. As soon as they sat down on Graf's bed, Graf pulled him onto his lap, and Juan immediately straddled his thighs and wrapped his arms around his boyfriend’s neck. He took the opportunity to steal another quick kiss from Graf.
When they pulled away, they looked at each other for a while, neither of them saying anything until Juan couldn't take it anymore and started giggling.
"Hi," Graf said, "What's so funny?"
"Nothing, I'm just happy to see you," he replied honestly. Graf turned red and ducked his face into Juan's shoulder. His hands found their way over to Juan's waist and pulled him even further onto Graf's lap. Their chests were practically touching.
They were so close, and it was exactly what Juan needed right now. It was a little overwhelming in a good way. He was very aware of every point in which their bodies touched, especially Graf's fingers clutching his waist. He let himself enjoy this for a few seconds before gently cupping Graf's face and guiding him to look at Juan again.
Graf lifted his head slowly. His eyes were darker now, pupils blown wide. The blush on his cheeks had spread down his neck, and he looked so lovely. Juan's gaze flicked to his lips again.
"Please," Juan said. He wasn't sure why he was asking when he knew he could just kiss Graf himself. Maybe he needed Graf's reassurance to know it's okay. Maybe he just liked the way Graf blushed even harder, and he looked at Juan as if he was the only person in the world. "Please, Graf."
His voice came out embarrassingly needy, but he couldn’t bring himself to care. Not when Graf was looking at him like that. Juan’s heart hammered against his ribs; he didn't know if it was from excitement or nervousness.
Of course, Graf gave in and kissed him again. His warm breath mingled with Juan's own, as he kissed Juan like he was starving for it. His shirt rode up a little under Graf's hands as his boyfriend helplessly tried to pull him even closer. Graf's teeth grazed his lower lip, and Juan made a muffled sound against his mouth, kissing Graf back with the same intensity. He parted his lips slightly, letting Graf press his tongue in between them. He slipped one hand into Graf's hair, his fingers tangled in between the messy strands and gripped them tightly, trying his best not to pull too hard.
They've kissed before, but never like this.
Juan was glad he was sitting down because his head was spinning and he might have collapsed if he had been standing. Butterflies swarmed in his stomach as he focused on kissing Graf. His boyfriend was so warm, and he yearned to feel as much of it against his own skin as possible. He wanted to melt into Graf and lose himself completely in this feeling.
Finally, they broke apart, both gasping for air. Graf was flushed, and his hair was even messier than before, due to Juan tugging on it. Juan was sure he didn’t look any better. His own face felt burning hot, his heart racing wildly in his chest. He would be embarrassed if he weren't so focused on admiring Graf.
For a moment, the only sound in the cave was their heavy breathing, until Graf spoke, "You really missed me, huh?"
"Shut up," Juan said, and kissed him again with a bit more force. Graf yelped in surprise against his lips, but quickly recovered and kissed Juan back.
Much to Juan's dismay, they had to break apart as they were both running out of breath. Juan leaned his forehead against Graf's, closing his eyes and enjoying the moment.
"You know, I like it when you're clingy," Graf said softly.
Jesus. How could Graf just casually say that? His lips were still so close to Juan's own that he could feel his breath with every word. His hands were still wrapped around Juan, and his thumbs were rubbing small circles into his bare skin, in the place where his shirt exposed a bit of it. Juan felt like he might go crazy.
"God, you're so— Stop saying things like that," Juan deflected, embarrassed. He felt the urge to hide his face into Graf's neck, but he didn't want to stop looking at Graf and his fond gaze that was directed only at Juan. It was addicting.
"Why, I can't compliment my boyfriend anymore? I like it when you come to me for anything, and I like giving you attention. Besides, I miss you like crazy when we don't see each other for a while."
Juan’s heart fluttered helplessly. “If you encourage me, I will only be more clingy. You will get tired of me.”
"I could never," Graf said softly but with a certain firmness to his voice. It made Juan feel warm all over. "I mean it. You're exactly what I want. How could I get tired of this?"
Juan leaned in and pressed his lips into Graf's own again. It was barely a proper kiss, but he couldn't stop smiling. "You're so sappy. But you're what I want as well."
Graf smiled back at him. "Yeah? Seems like we're a perfect match."
Juan giggled, and in a surge of boldness, he pressed his face into Graf's neck and kissed the space right below his jaw. Graf gasped, and his whole body jerked under Juan. He felt Graf's grip tighten on his hips. Juan smiled into his skin, feeling a rush of satisfaction at the reaction. He will definitely keep that in mind for the future. He settled on just exchanging lazy kisses with Graf for now.
He wasn't even sure when it happened, but between all the kisses, he found himself leaning over Graf in this weird half-sitting half-lying position; the man underneath him pushed slightly into the mattress. Graf was looking up at him with a soft smile. His lips were swollen from all the kissing, and he looked happy, but his eyes held a glint of exhaustion.
Shit, Graf was probably tired from all the work he's been doing. Knowing him, he hasn't taken a break in a while, not until Juan came in and kissed him stupid.
"You look tired," he said, gently brushing a strand of hair away from Graf's eyes. He reached to his face and took off his glasses, setting them aside.
"Oh, don't stop on my account," Graf replied. He looked even cuter without his glasses. There was something strangely domestic about having Graf like this, and it made Juan's chest squeeze with affection. "I'm enjoying myself."
"I'm sure you are, but we can just stay like this for a while. We can take a nap if you want."
Graf pulled him down, making Juan lie on top of his chest. "A nap does sound nice right now."
Juan shifted slightly, trying to settle into a more comfortable position on top of Graf. He finally settled on wrapping his right arm around Graf and tucking his face into the crook of his neck. He pressed a lingering kiss to the skin there, then another just below Graf's jaw, making him sigh with content.
"Comfortable?" he asked.
"Mhm, very much so," Graf replied, pressing Juan a small kiss to the top of his head. "You're warm."
Juan didn't feel tired before, but lying on top of Graf's body made him slightly sleepy. It felt like all the tension he's been feeling recently melted away in that very moment.
"Goodnight, then," he said, pressing one last lazy kiss to Graf's neck. Graf only hummed in reply, his eyes already slipping shut.
Wrapped up in Graf's arms, Juan drifted off to the steady sound of his heartbeat.
