Netflix and chill

Summary:

A second date to continue the awkwardness of the first

Work Text:

“So about that movie,” Morgan started only to be interrupted.

“And cuddles, you can’t forget the cuddles!” Alex said with a crooked grin.

“Right, and cuddles. When uhh… when did you want to have that date?” Morgan asked as he fiddled with an old toaster that was partially deconstructed.

“I got tonight free, after my afternoon ethics class.” Alex replied as they reached out to poke at the pieces on the coffee table. “Is this going to work again?”

“I still can’t believe you of all people teach ethics. Like why ethics of all things?” Morgan scrunched up his nose, absentmindedly batting Alex’s hand away from the growing amount of toaster parts.

“Eh,” Alex shrugged, “I was bored.” They half heartedly glared at Morgan for shooing their hand away. “Remind me again why we didn’t have our movie and cuddle after dinner last week?”

Morgan was silent for several moments as he worked at getting an especially stubborn piece disconnected, his tongue ever so slightly sticking out of the corner of his mouth. “I suppose you do like to do odd things when you’re bored. Better than killing people anyway.”

“I could ethically kill people.” Alex perked up.

“I would prefer if you didn’t actually.” Morgan finally looked up from the now fully dismantled toaster. “As to your earlier question, because some heroes recognized you as we were leaving and you decided to fight them.”

“Anyway I still can’t figure out why this thing was leaking water this morning.” He sighed in frustration, running his fingers through his hair.

“Oh, that’s because I was feeling spicy last night and took a bath with it. By the way it would suck to actually die that way, 1/10 do not suggest it.” Alex stated calmly as they scrolled through the news on their phone.

Morgan stared at them incredulously. “Why are you like this?”

“Like what? The fight was really more to remind them they’re too low tier to face me.”

“Nevermind, forget it.”

“The date? No, we’re definitely doing that tonight unless you’re busy. The question, sure. Anyway which of today’s heroes should I turn into a lesson for class today?” Alex leaned forward showing Morgan their phone screen.

Morgan leaned over the mess on the coffee table as he eyed the news articles. “What about that one?” He pointed at a headline that said ‘Local Vigilante takes down two petty thieves’

“I suppose I could talk about the difference between a hero and a vigilante and the ethical concerns they can have. Or even if it was ethical to tie these two up with zip ties and leave them alone in an ally while the police take their time picking them up.” Alex responded skimming the article Morgan had pointed out.

The S tier villian snapped their fingers as they stood up. Their outfit changed immediately to something more fitting for a professor. “About the movie, you pick. Just remember I don’t do well with certain types.”

Alex smiled as they picked up Morgan’s hand and ran their fingers over his bionic ones before placing a chaste kiss to the back of Morgan’s hand. “I’ll see you in a few hours.”

———

Alex rolled their shoulders as they walked into their apartment. With a soft hum they snapped their fingers, cleaning the apartment for their date.

Upon entering the living room Alex could see a few bowls with different snacks set up on the coffee table and plenty of blankets and pillows. The smell of popcorn slowly wafted into the room from the kitchen.

They smiled softly, the warm feeling of home wrapping around them like a blanket.

All throughout the movie they watched Morgan’s face. The anticipation and excitement for a movie they knew he’d seen several times already not ceasing to amaze them.

The question of how someone seemingly so ordinary could interest them so much but Morgan never failed to leave them guessing and the unknown had always left them thrilled.

“Did you catch that Foreshadowing? Here let me back it this part up so we can both get a better look at it.” Morgan said leaning forward and grabbing the remote with fingers covered in popcorn butter.

“Alright, I’m watching.” They said amusement coloring their tone. Still not taking their eyes off of Morgan’s face.

Morgan was too focused on the movie to take any real notice. He chattered about the subtleties of foreshadowing and how some people never catch any of it the first time around.

Alex finally tilted their head to the tv to watch the dramatic kiss scene before the near death battle that was approaching.

They glanced at Morgan, “That could be us if you’d just let me.”

Morgan turned his head slightly towards Alex. “Hmm, did you say something?” He asked eyes still glued to the tv.

“I said I’m going to kiss you, unless of course you’d prefer something else?” They raised a brow and offered a seductive smirk even though they knew Morgan may as well be blind to their charm.

“Oh, sure. I can grab more snacks after this scene.” Morgan said waving his hand clearly not listening to a word Alex had said.

Alex shook their head and tugged Morgan back against the couch and their side so they could have more cuddles. “It’s ok, I just want to spend time with you right now.”

Morgan nodded absently still watching the screen with rapt attention. “No, last time we held hands during a movie I needed bionic fingers.”

Alex chuckled softly and buried his head into one of the many pillows Morgan had dragged out for this date. Clearly he was expecting them to snap their fingers and put everything back later.

But hey at least Morgan made some fantastic snacks, they thought as they grabbed a bowl of home made salsa and a bag of chips so they could eat without having to pull away from the cozy spot the two had made together before the movie started.
