Sour Kisses

Summary:

“Could I-” Sunghoon starts.

“-Borrow some clothes?” Jake cuts in. “Yes, obviously.” He tosses a t-shirt and some sweatpants over his shoulder to Sunghoon.

Sunghoon quickly bends down to catch them before they hit the floor.

“You know you don’t have to ask, right?” Jake turns around, hands starting to unbutton his shirt. “Plus, why would I make you sit in these stuffy uniforms all afternoon? I’m not cruel.” Jake chuckles.

Work Text:

“What do you wanna watch?” Jake spoke as Sunghoon followed him through the front door.

“Dunno.” Sunghoon shrugged.

“Unhelpful.”

They removed their shoes and coats, dropping their backpacks to the floor, moving their way into the kitchen of Jake’s house.

“Just google popular movies.” Sunghoon suggested, chuckling slightly. He opened the fridge, grabbing one of those little fruit cups Jake always seemed to have.

“Fine.” Jake sat down and grabbed his phone. “Can you at least pick the genre?”

“Uhh.” Sunghoon thought about the movies they had watched recently. “How about… horror?”

“Horror? No, I’m still scarred from the last one we watched.” Jake shuddered.

“What?! It wasn’t even that scary!” Sunghoon gaped.

“Maybe not for you!” Jake laughed, whining slightly.

“Not for anyone, you’re just a wimp.” Sunghoon chuckles, taking a seat across from Jake at the kitchen island. “What was even scary about it?”

“Most of it!” Jake exclaimed, shocked that Sunghoon wasn’t understanding his fear. “Did you forget about all the headless people? Or the guy being lit on fire!?”

“That was not scary!” Sunghoon exclaimed. “Gross and gory sure, I’ll give you that, but not scary.”

“Whatever.” Jake stole the piece of fruit Sunghoon was holding between his fingers.

“Hey-”

“We’re not watching horror. Pick a different genre.”

“Fine,” Sunghoon sighed. “Um, how about… action?”

“We watched an action movie yesterday.” Jake said, continuing to scroll through his phone. “Pick something else.”

“Romance?”

“Boring.”

“Oh my god, if you’re gonna keep turning down my suggestions, just pick one yourself.” Sunghoon laughed.

“Well, I don’t know, that’s why I told you to pick.” Jake put his phone down.

“You didn’t find anything that looked good on google?” Sunghoon asked, frowning down at his now empty cup of fruit.

“Oh… no, I was on twitter.”

“Dude.” Sunghoon looked up, sending him a glare. Jake sent an apologetic smile in return. “You had one job. I did my part, now do yours.”

“What help would google be if we don’t even have a genre picked out?”

“I gave you three genres to pick from, and you denied them all.” Sunghoon held out three fingers in front of Jake’s face.

“They all sucked.”

“You’re so indecisive.”

“I know.” Jake grabbed Sunghoon’s hand with both of his, bringing it down to the countertop. “Which is why I’m so, so lucky to have a decisive best friend like you.”

Jake batted his eyelashes in a sweet manner, causing Sunghoon’s glare to quickly fade away into a smile.

“You’re ridiculous.” Sunghoon got up, pulling his hand away from Jake, to throw away his trash.

“Hey! That’s mean.” Jake exaggerates a fake pout.

“Not mean if it’s the truth.” Sunghoon smiled brightly as he took his seat again.

“Yah!” Jake slapped Sunghoon’s arm, making both of them laugh. “Can you please just pick a genre?”

“How many more can I possibly suggest?” Sunghoon tilted his head at Jake, watching him as he picked his phone up again. “What about comedy? Or sci-fi? Or a thriller?”

“Maybe, no, and that’s the same as horror.” Jake opened google on his phone, searching for recent comedy movies.

“I’ve run out of genres.” Sunghoon tossed his hands up in the air in defeat.

“We’re never going to figure this out.” Jake frowns, scrolling through the uninteresting list of comedy movies google is trying to advertise to him.

They sat in silence for a couple minutes. Jake continues to try and find a movie, while Sunghoon thinks about all the chemistry homework he has to do this week.

“What about a drama?” Jake suggests, pulling Sunghoon out of his thoughts.

“Yeah, works for me.” Sunghoon agrees easily, happy Jake finally made up his mind.

“Awesome.” Jake hops up, making his way towards the stairs, Sunghoon following behind.

They get to Jake’s room, Sunghoon shutting the door behind him, leaning against it for a second while Jake makes his way to his dresser.

“Right, yeah. Thank you.” Sunghoon smiles, opening the door again to go change in the bathroom. “Be right back.”

Sunghoon catches a glimpse of Jake’s bare back as he shuts the door again. He quickly shuts his eyes, shaking his head. He makes his way down the hall to the bathroom Jake shares with his older brother.

He goes in, shutting the door. “Get it together, Sunghoon. He whispers to himself, placing the clothes down on the counter of the sink.

He turns the sink on, splashing some cold water in his face. It's just his back, why am I blushing? Sunghoon thinks, staring at his slightly red face in the mirror.

Sunghoon starts unbuttoning his shirt and pants, quickly changing into the clothes given to him. After doing so, he heads back downstairs to put his school uniform back into his backpack.

“Sunghoon?” Jake yells from the top of the stairs.

“Yeah?” Sunghoon yells back.

“Could you grab some snacks before you come up?” Jake asks.

“Sure, what do you want?”

“Get my sour gummy worms from the pantry, and whatever you want. Thanks!”

Sunghoon makes his way over to the kitchen again, walking into the pantry. The walk-in pantry. Yeah. Walk-in. Everyday Sunghoon is shocked by Jake’s house, and he knows Jake’s family is on the richer side, but he’s still in awe of the little things.

He grabs the gummy worms for Jake and a froot-by-the-foot for himself. He went to the fridge and grabbed two cans of coke as well. He made his way up the stairs, moving slowly so the food and drinks didn’t fall out of his hands.

When he gets back into the room he sees Jake sitting on his bed, wearing shorts and a hoodie that is clearly too big on him, typing away on his laptop.

Sunghoon sets the cokes down on the nightstand causing Jake to look over to him. His eyes light up and he starts making grabby hands at the bag of gummy worms.

“Gimme gimme!” Jake leans over to take the gummy worms from Sunghoon’s hand. “Thank you.” He smiles.

“‘Course.” Sunghoon smiles back, sitting down next to Jake.

“Okay, pick one of these.” Jake turns his laptop towards Sunghoon so he can see the options of dramas.

“This one.” Sunghoon points to the second option Jake had picked out. He looks over to see Jake’s reaction, and after seeing the little smile spread across his face, he knows he chose the right one.

Jake clicks on the show and sets the laptop down in front of them, he leans back against his headboard and opens his gummy worms.

“Could you close the curtains?” Jake asked Sunghoon. Without answering, Sunghoon gets up, walks around the bed, and slides the curtains closed.

Sunghoon sits back down and mimics Jake’s actions.

“Are your parents and brother not home?” Sunghoon asks, looking towards Jake.

“Mom’s at work, Dad’s on a business trip, and Max is at swim practice.” Jake answers, eyes glued to the screen in front of them.

“Ah.”

“Why?”

“Oh, uh… just noticed the house was quiet.” Sunghoon answered. He didn’t really have a reason for asking.

They sat in silence for a while, getting 2 episodes into the drama, ¾ through the pack of sour gummy worms, 2 cokes down, and through the foot by the foot, before Jake hits pause. Sunghoon watches him as he stretches his arms and back.

“Gotta pee.” Jake jumps up, walking out of the room.

Sunghoon nods, picking his phone up to see if he’s missed any messages from his mom. He hasn’t.

At some point during the last two hours Jake’s brother and mom made their way into the house. His mom came in to check on them, asking each of them how their day was.

Jake comes back a couple minutes later, standing in the doorway.

“My mom wants to know if you are staying for dinner.” Jake starts. “She’s making japchae.”

“I’ll ask my mom.” Sunghoon goes to grab his phone, and Jake leaves the room again.

-
Sunghoon: can i stay at jake’s for dinner?
-

He turns the ringer on and sets his phone down assuming it’ll take a bit for her to reply.

Jake walks through the door again, heading towards his dresser again instead of the bed. Sunghoon watches as he removes his hoodie and grabs a t-shirt from one of his drawers.

Sunghoon feels his eyes lingering on Jake’s bare toros a little longer than he should have. He quickly glances away as Jake turns around while pulling the shirt over his head.

Jake sits back down, closer to Sunghoon than he was before, leaning into his space. He grabs his arm to move it around himself, sliding down until his head is resting on Sunghoon’s chest.

Sunghoon’s breath falters slightly at the action, but he quickly relaxes once Jake presses play on the drama show.

They sit like that for a few moments, getting a quarter through the third episode, Jake continuing to eat gummy worms, occasionally passing one up to Sunghoon.

“Were you staring at me?” Jake asks suddenly, not looking away from the show.

“What?” Sunghoon replies, a little taken aback.

“When I changed my shirt.” Jake continues, turning his head to look up at Sunghoon. “Were you staring at me?” He asks again.

Sunghoon’s eyes meet Jakes. “No.”

“Yes you were.” Jake pushes.

“No I wasn’t.” Sunghoon says again, less confident than the first time.

“I’m not upset.” Jake turns back to the screen. “If that’s what you’re worried about.”

“I’m… not.” Sunghoon trails off, not really knowing what to say. He can feel his face heating up at the confrontation.

Jake looks back up at Sunghoon, noticing the slight blush on his face. The observation makes him smile.

“You’re blushing.” Jake pokes at Sunghoon’s cheek.

Sunghoon places his left hand on his own cheek, feeling the warmth of his face.

“What? No, I’m not.” He scrunches his face, turning away. “Shut up.”

“You so are!” Jake’s smile widens. He starts poking Sunghoon’s cheek more, then moving his face to turn back to look at him.

They stay like that for a few moments, staring at each other, ignoring the show playing. Jake glances down at Sunghoon's lips a few times, Sunghoon notices and a slight smile spreads across his face.

“Now who’s staring.” Sunghoon speaks quietly, nearly whispering. “Hm?”

“You.” Jake states, voice at the same level, eyes glued to his lips.

“What do you want? Hm?” Sunghoon asks, face moving a little closer.

“I just…” Jake trails off, mouth opening slightly.

Sunghoon closes the gap between them, left hand moving to rest on Jake’s cheek. Jake’s hand moves to Sunghoon’s shoulder, holding onto the collar of his shirt loosely.

Their lips move together slowly, Sunghoon shifts down so they're more at eye level than previously.

Sunghoon’s hand moves down to hold Jake’s waist, pulling him in closer, causing a little noise to release from his lips. Jake’s hand slides up to grab at Sunghoon’s hair.

Jake pulls back a bit to breathe for a second.

“You taste good.” Sunghoon pants into Jake’s mouth, the comment makes both of them smile.

Moving back into the kiss, Sunghoon pulls Jake even closer, legs tangling together. The show is long forgotten as the laptop slides down Jake’s legs onto the mattress.

Sunghoon’s hand moves down to pull Jake’s leg over his hip and he slips his left leg between the others, leaving his hand to rest on his bare thigh. He holds on to the bottom of Jake’s shorts, slightly pushing his fingers underneath the fabric.

Soft sounds leave Jake’s throat, enjoying the hands on him. The pace gets slightly faster as time goes on, only taking small moments to breathe.

Sunghoon lightly sucks on Jake’s bottom lip, and the reaction he gets is wonderful. He starts to suck a little harder, seeing if he could–

*RING RING*

Sunghoon’s phone starts ringing, startling them. They slightly jump, moving away from each other. They untangle their limbs and sit up, Sunghoon reaches for his phone to see that his mom is calling.

“It’s my mom.” Sunghoon just stares at his phone, trying to process what was just happening for the last 10-ish minutes of his life.

Jake clears his throat. “Well… um, are you going to answer it?” His voice cracks slightly.

“Right.” Sunghoon snaps out of his trance, clicking accept on the call. “Hi.”

Are you coming home? Remember I have a business dinner tonight and you have to be with Yeji.” Sunghoon’s mom speaks.

“Um, right yeah… yeah, I’ll be there soon.” Sunghoon sighs, hand coming up to his temple.

Okay, I’ll see you later tonight, I love you.”

“Love you too.” Sunghoon hangs up, and sets his phone down in his lap.

“You have to go?” Jake asks.

“Yeah, I forgot that I have to stay with Yeji tonight.” Sunghoon starts to get up, Jake follows his actions. “Sorry… about dinner.”

“It’s okay.” Jake smiles. “You can stay another day.”

“Yeah.” Sunghoon smiles back at him. “Um, what should I do with these?” He points to Jake’s shirt that he’s wearing.

“Just wear them home, you can wash them and give them back tomorrow or something.”

“Okay. Cool. Yeah.” Sunghoon grabs his phone and opens the door to head downstairs. Jake follows. They head to the front door, and Sunghoon goes to put his shoes on and grab his backpack.

“I’ll see you tomorrow.” Sunghoon opens the front door, turning back to smile at Jake.

“Yeah, bye.” Jake smiles back, shutting the door.

Sunghoon releases a heavy breath he didn’t realize he was holding in. He starts walking down the walkway to the sidewalk.

Shit, it’s cold. He thinks, noticing his breath is visible. Where’s my coat?

Sunghoon is now realizing that he left his coat inside, just then he hears the front door of Jake’s house open. Turning around he sees Jake standing there, holding his coat.

“You forgot your coat.” Jake slightly shouts over to Sunghoon.

“Yep.” Sunghoon walks back to grab his coat. “Thank you.”

They both smile and Jake shuts the door again, Sunghoon puts his coat on as he walks away.

What the fuck just happened?
