He will see and explore.

He shall be the eyes for you and much, much more.

Chapter 1: Stray

Chapter Text

I am but a child of the City, though now a stray. A stray child, though not an orphan. They threw me out of my comfortable house, to seek a star and see the world; I shall see then, what’s with this world.

All I have is the sackbag, a stick, some uniforms and a head on my shoulder. Money is gonna be a struggle, for I need to live and explore at the same time.

Something like a fixer. Though, not as chained with contracts and offices as one.

Ah, it is simple. I’ll be a travelling fixer and a travelling merchant; they said I have talent for the former, though the latter, only the goods matter, right?

And here I am, exploring the backstreets of District 22; my stomping grounds. Or at least exploring it until I get enough money; I’m not staying here. I’ve seen some of the sights before, but some areas, never. There were many grey buildings, with grey-mooded people all staring at the gray asphalt to go somewhere dull.

How boring, the sights of this.

I walked to the nearest fixer association facility; it seems to be a crappy and corrupted joint, judging by the dirt and smoke of the area. My guess is that it is an associate of an association?

I walked in, meeting the presence of some person behind the counter. I took up one of those folded papers with information and pictures; I like the pictures a lot, they are usually quite pretty. This one is the same as they printed amusing pictures of Grade 1 fixers and such, with information a bit bright for my eyes.

Though, maybe it's just me. In the paper thing, or was it a flier; whatever the case, they wrote about what associations do. Hana, Zwei, Tres and all that odd number stuff–what caught my eyes was Eight Association, one focusing on exploration. Is it not the freest, exploring the world as you want? Though, a lot of it was whaling in the Great Lake, that’s pretty cool; but not all. There is still other notable stuff, like mapping, guiding, investigating–oh, I guess it slightly overlaps with seven in this degree, though it's more on-field than anything.

Explore the world, no time limit. I guess it is like Eight.

So then, I ought to get a license!

I took my inquiries to the receptionist and he asked me, “Do you have an Office recommendation?”. I answered no promptly, for who am I to lie?

“Just get a fixer license… Then do whatever schtick that fits the bill of the association.”

“Oh, ok. Do I need to do an exam or…”

“Pay.”

“Just that?”

“... Yes.”

And so, I gave the man my last spendable ahn; he went ahead and notarized the license under a local notary office working with the branch of fixer authorization section for Hana association.

“Mr. Pausan, you are a Grade 9 Fixer.”

Yes, I am.

And so, after the long wait of 2 hours, I had entered a citizen and left as a fixer; an explorer.

Though I still need money to explore, and explore to earn money.

Well, let us see.
