Work Text:
The thing about Alicia is that it never bothered her at all what people thought about her sex life. She'd grown up in a tiny fucking music scene, she'd always known people were going to be all up in your business. She'd always fucked who she wanted, when she wanted. The only time it had ever bothered her in the early years was the time she was tech-ing for her dad and a guy she'd hooked up with the previous night decided she was a bitch for not wanting to do it again and made enough of a scene that her dad noticed.
Because her dad knowing about her sex life? No. Just. No.
It was a little more complicated once she started going out on tour. As small as Grain Valley was, tours were smaller. Hookups were more complicated to negotiate. It took more work to make sure all the involved parties had similar levels of investment (or disinvestment). (It also took more work to make sure you didn't get caught in the act. Alicia wasn't an exhibitionist and being caught mid-finger bang in the Avenge Sevenfold tour bus bathroom wasn't her favorite thing ever.)
Even then the gossip didn't bother her. She was good at her job, she knew it, the bands she worked with knew it. Nobody said anything to her face, why should she care what they were saying when she wasn't around? Nobody who was worth anything treated her differently and that's all that mattered.
It changed a little with Pete. Maybe because he was the first band guy she'd fucked on any kind of regular basis, maybe because he was Pete and was a drama magnet. For whatever reason the gossip got meaner. And people she cared about started to look at her a little funny. It sucked but whatever. She knew she'd stepped into the epic Pete/Jeanae melodrama but it wasn't anything serious with Wentz and everyone needed to back the fuck off.
The only time she'd ever really worried at all about her reputation was when she started getting serious with Mikey.
From the minute she'd met him she'd known that she wanted to spend as much time around this kid as humanly possible. He was just so fucking nice, and funny and didn't have that tour-tired jaded bitchy thing that everyone else in her fucking universe had going on. He was sweet. And she really liked him. Really really liked him.
And he liked her. And they were fucking awesome together.
Only, they never really said they were together. Like, she knew neither of them was fucking anyone else, but they weren't saying anything formal. And he was denying it to fans and she started getting nervous.
She started worrying that he'd heard too many of the rumors and that he didn't want to ever be public about dating her. Maybe he couldn't stomach being linked to someone who was such a well known slut-bag.
Her friends told her she was crazy and that Mikey was kind of a whore too but she couldn't help but feel something clench everytime Mikey said he was single in an interview or he dropped her hand when a camera was around.
It was Gerard who ended up fixing things for them. He eavesdropped on a phone call she was making ("Can I help it if my need for nicotine means I'm well poised to overhear things? No I cannot.") and heard her angsting to Sarah about how Mikey thought she was too slutty to really date. She didn't notice him until he smacked her in the back of the head and said "Oh my GOD you are both idiots."
He dragged her back to the My Chem bus and shoved her at Mikey. "Mikey, Alicia thinks you think she's too slutty. Alicia, Mikey thinks you think he's not enough sexually. Can you just start dating officially and save us all the drama?"
Frankly Alicia thought that Gerard was not someone who should be throwing stones about drama but she saw the way Mikey was smiling and she decided to forgive him. The next day she posted about their relationship to her myspace and Mikey mentioned her in his next interview.
People still think Alicia is a big whore and she still doesn't give a shit. And neither does her dorktastic husband.
