Work Text:
A man sits on a bench, peacefully reading a magazine. After a few moments, another man joins him, reading a book.
The first man stretches and sets down his paper. “Say, I noticed you’re reading the new Rachel Reid book.” His seat mate gently lowered the book, placing a bookmark inside. “Yup! It’s excellent, isn’t it?”
”Yes.” The first man agreed. “I happen to be reading the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter and it says that the upcoming season of the adaptation will have a shakeup to replace the main cast.”
The other man gasped. “You’re kidding me, that’s sacrilege! Tell me more.”
The first man opened the magazine, pointing at the featured article. “You see, the studio is hiring some improv comedian to play every character in the show.”
His new friend quirked an eyebrow. “…And?”
”Insiders say it’s for budgetary reasons and the like. But you know what else?”
“No, what?” The other man made an impatient hurry up gesture.
”The plot’s also switching to a checkers tournament. The headline reads ‘Game Changers Changes The Game With A Real Game Changer.’”
“…I hate you.”
”I know.”
