You enter the world the same way everyone does, hundreds of blocks up in the air, hands empty, and the great tree of Velaris SMP. The tree stood tall and imposing, the end rods on it's branches glowing ever so slightly. A few people were late. Just a bit later than the others who arrived the second the server was opened. Trees have been cut down, terrain consisting of outside blocks, hinting the passing by of other players, homes were being built, kingdoms, were already being built. You had long heard of the few groups of people coming together before the server opened to form a kingdom. The whole concept was fascinating to her. A large group of people coming together to to form an SMP, soon interacting and living with one another in the same world. After all, that is what SMP meant. Survival Multiplayer.
SMPs can large differ in the world of Minecraft. And for most of them, they aren't just free to join. SMPs like DreamSMP, UnstableSMP and StateSMP are one of those. The DreamSMP became popular in the Minecraft world after it's players showed the world their story, which sparked the inspiration of others, leading to more of these SMPs being created. In Unstable SMP, it's members formed together to script and create a whole new story for the public, sparking more popularity in these types of SMPs. On the other hand, StateSMP, differed from the first 2. There are many types of SMPs. And State, is an SMP that lasts for a very short duration. Despite the short duration, it's players managed to achieve a lot, creating new legends and history in the span of 10 days. Ish, the creator of StateSMP became famous for the story he shared, leading to many more people wanting to apply to enter StateSMP.
You looked past the horizon, seeing the foundations of kingdoms being built, players roaming around for resources, structures being explored. Velaris was just beginning. No large builds, No kingdoms, No conflict. But this is just what you wanted to see. The start of a new story, the start of everything. A time when everything is peaceful and undeveloped, a world that's waiting to see where your decisions will lead you. You walked out from the gazebo where players arrive in, Spawn was beautiful, decorated by the server's owner, moderator and admins and claimed using a mod to make sure no outside player messes up the place.
You slowly walked around Spawn, looking at the information of the server on your hologram screen. In minecraft, your controls and settings can be accessed easily, only seen by you. Your inventory works almost similarly. However, in SMPs like this, you don't just get the option to switch into whatever mode you want. There were 4 modes in this world. The default being Survival. And as the name suggests, everything is normal and you just, survive, with a twist of course! You get to respawn if you die! Not saying that dying a lot is good.. The second is Creative. Think of Creative mode being a version of godhood but not quite there yet. In Creative mode, players are granted access to unlimited resources, flight, insane strength and immunity to damage. The next, Adventure mode. In this mode, players can't break or place any blocks, only being able to use any usable item given to them. Its a weird mode, but people often use this mode in horror maps or public building maps in order to avoid others destroying what they've built. Last but not least, hardcore. The mode many players use to create stories in SMPs alike, including Unstable and DreamSMP. Hardcore mode is where the mobs are just a tad bit stronger but the key point, is that when you die, you stay dead. Unless someone with creative or moderator priveliges revive you. Why do you think State has so many staff?
Spawn was beautiful, and as beautiful as it is, one must actually leave spawn to start their new adventure. For most servers, Spawn, is usually located on the ground, surrounded by trees and a few buildings perhaps. But not in Velaris. The Velaris spawn is located hundreds of blocks in the air, and in order to leave spawn, you must take a leap of faith. You looked off the edge and smiled. The world of Minecraft isn't for the faint hearted after all.
And thus, the beginning of a new journey, in Velaris SMP.
