The night was a very comforting thing for Jevin. It brought to him a sense of ease that he never felt during the day. He couldn’t describe the feeling, but it was a really nice one. One he wished he could feel all the time. Being at war however broke that sense of ease he felt during the night time. It left him feeling uneasy. He was so scared he’d be ambushed by Team S.T.A.R that he slowly stopped going out to the field at night to stargaze.
He loved the stars. They make him feel like he belongs. He loved staring at them for the reason being their glow and difference in sizes, shapes and color and everything about them brought him ease. He was calm. Even without sleeping and when the Phantoms were after him he still felt better at night rather than day.
Jevin still loved checking out the field at night, he just couldn’t bring himself to lay down and actually take a look at the sky and stars. He didn’t want to lower his guard. Not with the field being right between Team S.T.A.R and G-Team’s bases. Not with the war happening. It wasn’t safe for him to lower his guard.
Many nights passed and yet nothing changed. The war was still ongoing and if anything it was much more tense. Really? All this because of pranks. Jevin would be damned before he even ever dare mutter a word of how insane it really was to be this worked up to start a war because of pranks and yet continuing to pranking with the war itself.
The slime found himself wandering over to the field once again. He assumed he’d see nothing new. Nothing different. He assumed wrong today. Out in the open field lay Welsknight watching the night sky. He looked more than just simply tired, and boy did that make the slime sad. He approached the medic knight.
“Wels?” Jevin spoke softly as to not cause any surprise. Wels turned his head, looking up slightly. They spoke with exhaustion lacing their tone, “oh, hi Jevin..!”
“What are you doing out here this late? Are…you not afraid?” The slime asked, a hint of worry in his tone as he stood next to the knight on the ground. “No, not really. You guys wouldn’t attack unless prompted to. At least I assume so. I also wanted to see the stars, they put me at ease. Like I could sleep soundly and easily again without…oversleeping.” They hummed, raising his arm to tug at Jevin’s hand. “Sit, my friend.” It smiled.
Jevin sat next to Wels, and his friend sat up. The two of them sat in awkward silence for a good few minutes until Jevin broke the silence, “i think xB misses Hypno.” Wels turned his head, “you think? Jev, it’s as clear as day that he misses him!” The knight lightly shoved him. “Yes, OBVIOUSLY. But I swear he’s a lot more..um. He yearns. I think it’s more than simply missing a friend.” Jevin said, unsure himself of how he really understands it. “Oh? You think…its romantic?”
Another beat of silence followed. Jevin nodded. “I can see it I guess.” Wels shrugged. “Oh, Wels. You’re so fun. Others have just turned that idea away. But i KNOW my xB and my Hypno.” The slime spoke dramatically. He kept talking and Wels only got sleepier.
Wels rested his head in Jevin’s lap, which shut off Jev’s yapping session. “Wels?” He asked and the Knight hummed, mumbling, “goodnight, Jevs.”
Jevin didn’t have a moment to process, Wels immediately fell asleep. How tired was he? Jevin placed a hand at Wels’ side, gently massaging it as he looked up at the stars. “I guess we can rest here tonight.” He smiled, his tail curling around the two. “I feel much safer with you here, even if asleep. I love you, my friend. Good night, rest well.”
