When Puqi first applied for the job at the so called „Hybrid café”, at first he didnt expect to even get a position in the cafe, all thanks to his shitty application he made in the middle of the night— Suprisingly he got part-time at the café, And he wasn’t alone too! All he was told was he’d start his first shift at night, and that he’d have a co-worker to keep him company, Nothing for sure will go wrong, no?
Upon arriving at the cafe, the first thing waiting for him was the café uniform—a wrinkled, stained mess of an apron that looked like it hadn’t seen the inside of a washing machine in years. He wrinkled his nose but didn’t dare complain. He wasn’t in the position to do so anyways, and he couldn’t afford to get fired. he doesn’t wanna look for another job.
As soon as Puqi made it inside the café— the café was bustling with people, They are understaffed as hell bro. But he didn’t comment on it, And like mentioned earlier he wasn’t alone, he had a co-worker somewhere—?
„Hey,”
Puqi turned around as soon as he heard the unfamiliar voice behind him, The guy had the same uniform as him, he assumes its his companion, well— co-worker.
„Hey, you work here?” Puqi started, looking up at his companion, He looked.. intriguing— in a good way ofcourse. He just had a interesting appearance.
„Yeah, i just got hired not that long time ago, part-time— You are my colleague i assume? Name’s Render.” Render explained.
So this is his so said co-worker? Puqi thought, glancing at them. They should hurry up— Our shift started 10 minutes ago.
“Hey, Puqi.” he said, gesturing to the name pin on their apron. “Anyways, we should probably get moving before we actually get ourselves fired.”
„Okay, well Puqi, You could get started on pastries, and i could make the drinks.” Render made his way to the machines, trying to figure out how this works, this guy really had no experience, we are getting fired day one bro.
Puqi went up to the cash register, getting the first order, which contained a large coffee with two shots of espresso and milk, for the toppings its oreos and vanilla syrup drizzle and a croissant. Seems simple right? This should go by fast. Except Render didnt know how to use the coffee makers at all, they are hiring anybody nowadays. „Do you know how to use it?”
„Well, I’ve made my fair share of coffee before, but these machines? I’m not exactly used to them," Render admitted, There was a awkward silence between the two for a few seconds. His fingers brushed over the unfamiliar buttons and levers. He glanced around the bustling café. This was going to be a long night.
Oh my god bro. Puqi was genuinely going to crashout. „Okay, So basically—„ blah blah blah puqi explained how the machines work. yap yap yap yap yap „And thats how you use theese machines, got it?”
„Okay, got it. I think i got the catch of it now.” Render grabbed a large cup, placing it in the coffee brewer. You could barely hear the hum of the machine cause of how bustling it was in the café.
„Okay, you do the drink now i can get to baking the pastry.” Puqi made his way over to the oven, putting a fresh batch of croissants in the oven, it didn’t take long before the croissants were ready— technology theese days. He placed the croissant on a platter, and neither was it long before Render finally made the drink. Placing it next to the croissant on the counter, careful so it doesn’t spill. The customer was suprisingly satisfied enough?
Render spoke after a while. „Not bad,” he said, pausing for a moment before continuing. „If we keep this u—„
End of the shift, 11 PM.
They stared at the chaos in silence for a moment before Puqi muttered, "Yeah, we’re fucking fired bro.”
