Chapter Text
In Rosinante's defense, she never expected to survive. When her brother shot her, Rosi accepted her fate. Hell, she even felt a sense of satisfaction, albeit a bit cold. She had acquired, or rather stolen the Ope Ope no Mi from the Barrels pirate, saved Law, and helped him and Dellinger escape from her brother. As she lay in the snow, slipping into unconsciousness and bleeding out, her only regret was leaving behind the people who loved her. She would miss so many of Dellinger's milestones and leave them to face the world without her. She would never see the men they would grow into, but at least they would grow up free.
"Delli… Law… my sweet babies… I'm so sorry."
She would leave behind Sengoku and Tsuru, the people who raised her. She would leave her friends, Bellemere and Smoker.
"I'm so sorry, Sen."
Her vision faded to black, and her senses weakened. All she could do was pray that the boys found a marine in time to deliver the crucial information. The fate of Dressrosa depended on them. "Stay alive, Rosinante. For them. For as long as it takes for them to get out of Doffy's earshot. For as long as it takes them to find a marine. Stay alive. Stay alive. Stay alive."
Rosi...
Mommy?
Our dear Rosi...you've done a great job.
Did I? I couldn't help Doffy, and I'm leaving my babies alone.
Sometimes, the ones we love are beyond help, love.
Is there no hope for Doffy then, Mommy?
There is. He just isn't getting it now.
What about my sons? My babies?
Don't worry, Rosebud.
Daddy?
They found a marine! A rather strapping young man, too.
Good. They're safe.
Rest now, Rosebud.
I can't. If I do, the spell I cast on them will disappear, Daddy. Doffy's gonna find them. I can't rest now.
Oh, Rosebud..
I'll stay alive as long as I can. I need to.
Our little Rosebud, all grown up.
Someone's shaking her. Is that...
"Law...?"
What's he saying? He brought help?
The next time she woke up, she was on a medbay bed that smelled of chocolate. She hoped she wasn't where she thought she was.
