Work Text:

The smell of blood under her skin was so enticing. Scott's hunger roared through him as he couldn't help but lean ever-closer to Shubble. His fangs ached and his claws itched to tear into her skin and taste the blood flowing through her veins. He wasn't sure who made the first move, Pyro and Owen had been circling closer just as he had and suddenly the smell of her blood wasn't hidden beneath her skin, but spilling out. Scott needed it.

He tasted it, the rich, life-filled blood, far better than what he had been getting from wild animals. The familiar, mouth-watering metallic taste overwhelmed his mind and all too soon it was gone. It felt like he had barely gotten any, he didn't feel full at all.

“You-” Owen started in a tone that made Scott turn and follow his gaze to Pyro, whose eyes blazed red with a fresh kill. Scott felt rage fill him, bringing his hunger for blood back in full force.

“You did it? You took my meal!” Scott struck out at him. Pyro scrambled away, squeaking out pitiful sorrys that did nothing to quell Scott's temper.

“Scott, he couldn't help it!” Owen tried, as Pyro transformed to escape. “He's young!”

Scott scowled at Pyro in bat form, then at Owen for trying to defend him, but he walked back to Shubble who was still dancing in excitement over her proof of the supernatural. Scott could feel the hunger still pulsing through him as Pyro flew over in bat form, hovering away from Scott hesitantly.

“Stop hiding as a bat, you coward.” Scott said, and Pyro obediently dropped back into his human form, instantly cringing away. Scott immediately stalked back over to him, intimidation in every step. “If you ever steal from me again,” he hissed, “it will be the last thing you take.” Pyro cowered further, gibbering some kind of apology Scott didn't care to hear. Owen and Shubble watched silently. Good. Shubble could learn something from Owen's deference, at least he knew his place.

Scott turned away, hunger still gnawing at him. It would take time to lure out another villager. Until then he would have to continue on the pitiful amounts of blood he could take from the wildlife. The hunger itched under his skin, blood, blood, blood pounding inside his skull. He would need to feed again soon, properly this time.
