Shuto Sendou was not gay. His dream was to get famous, snatch up a hot actress to marry, and to be known as the best ace in Japanese football. The only hiccup to this dream was his interest in men… and lack of interest in women.
His reputation meant everything to him– how would his fans, or even worse, his team react if he came out as gay. So his solution was simple: he would bury his feelings and pretend to be straight. How hard could it be? If he convinced himself he was straight, then everyone else would believe he was, too.
It was now half-time of the U20 vs. Blue Lock match– Sendou’s performance had been shocking so far and boy did everyone make that known to him. He was distracted during the match, because he couldn’t stop thinking about some comments he’d seen on one of his Instagram posts the night before, calling him homophobic slurs. It made his world spin and he’d spent the whole night unable to sleep due to the horrifying thought of his secret being revealed.
What was he supposed to do? Post that he was in a relationship with some made up woman to get these people off his back? No, that’d definitely backfire.
To make matters even worse, Sendou had taken a liking to the one man he despised most on his team– Sae Itoshi. Sae was drop dead gorgeous but a piece of shit through and through, what a waste of good looks!. Having Sae join the U20’s for this match was the worst. Not only was playing it straight hard enough on its own, but developing a crush on your own teammate was just disastrous.
As if he was able to read Sendou’s thoughts, Sae entered the locker room, standing in the doorway with a hand on his waist (as always), eyes burning into Sendou’s side until he turned to face him. Sendou had been sitting on one of the benches zoning out, and it was no surprise that someone came to find him… or probably just to scold him.
“You call yourself an ace, a toddler could play better than you’ve been playing.” Sae jabbed, watching as a defeated sigh left Sendou’s mouth.
“I know, I know, alright?” Sendou replied, very little energy in his words.
“Well get your head out of the damn clouds and start playing properly.” Sae sat down next to Sendou, earning a very confused look from his teammate.
“That’s what I’m trying to do, genius.”
“Stop letting the opinions of random nobodies affect you, they don’t know you.”
Sendou frowned, “How… what?”
“You’re easy to read. You think nobody notices you doomscrolling for hours before bed, sinking into despair over what people are saying about you?” Sae shook his head, “Plus who cares if you’re gay?”
“I am not gay.” Sendou retorted quicker than he could think.
He really hadn’t thought that anyone would see him on his phone at some hour past midnight, sometimes even crying to himself, oh, how embarrassing… he was so sure everyone had been asleep.
“Sure… is that why you’re always checking me out? Because you’re not gay?” Sae’s gaze flicked to Sendou who was, admittedly, pretty red right now.
“I do NOT check you out! Ugh, get over yourself, you’re the worst!” Sendou lay back on the bench, both hands covering his face. Yes, he totally does check Sae out, more often than not, actually. His body is incredible, his toned thick thighs, plush ass, and Sendou is expected not to stare?
Sae rolled his eyes, adjusting himself on the bench so he was hovering over Sendou. He peeled Sendou’s hands off his face and just… stared. Beyond Sendou being irritating to his very core, he was actually rather pretty. He had luscious lips that any man would be lucky to have in a partner, eyelashes that he knew how to bat when he wanted something and expressions that showed his true self, even when he didn’t realise it.
“W-what are you doing?” Sendou squeaked, shocked to see Sae suddenly above him.
“You can stop me, if you wish,” Sae said before he lowered himself at an agonisingly slow pace, stopping when their noses were nearly touching.
“Well? What are you going to do?” Sae was challenging him– Sendou knew he could just push him off and this whole thing would be over… but he wanted this. He wanted nothing more than to give into his cravings.
Sendou, who had somehow found some stray confidence, reached to pull Sae’s face closer, and kissed him. It was only a small peck at first, before Sae devoured him, kissing back with a passion that Sendou had never expected. It was hot– everything that he wanted and more. Before he knew it, Sae’s tongue was in his mouth exploring every inch of it, and Sendou moaned into the kiss, trying so hard to keep up.
It could have been seconds, or minutes– neither Sae nor Sendou knew– before they broke apart, still connected by a string of saliva. Sae unsurprisingly appeared a lot more composed than Sendou did– the latter was panting, bright red, with his mouth open as if begging for more.
“Shit.” That was all Sendou could say.
“What were you saying earlier about not being gay?” Sae wiped his lips, sitting up.
“Fuck off.” Sendou sat up, wearing that adorable frown on his face again.
“Congrats on coming out, Sen!” Aiku clapped as he entered the room, grinning like mad.
“Huh?!”
Someone needed to sedate Sendou right now, this wasn’t happening. First, he was lost in thought over his sexuality crisis, he makes out with his enemy that he actually has a crush on and then his Captain, none other than Oliver Aiku, catches them making out and is now congratulating him on ‘coming out’. This had to be a dream– yup, a dream– not real at all, right?
“Sorry, sorry! I was looking for you two to let you know that the match was starting up again soon, but I saw you guys were…occupied soooo I just waited, around the corner of course, I wasn’t watching, don’t worry! Although, I was starting to get a bit concerned you guys were going to keep going and I’d have to actually separate you from each other myself just to get you back on the pitch!” Aiku chuckled.
Sae headed towards the door, pausing for a moment, “Score in the second half and I’ll kiss you again.”
Aiku’s mouth dropped to the floor, looking between Sae leaving the room and Sendou still sitting dumbfounded on the bench.
“Sendou! I didn’t know you knew how to charm someone so efficiently!” Aiku teased, clapping Sendou on the back, “Well, you best get out there and score if you want loverboy to give you some more… loving.”
“Shut up!” Sendou stood up to leave, but he was stopped by Aiku who clearly had more to say– he’d probably tease him even more than he already did.
“Seriously though… we love you for you, gay or not, you’re our Ace. Now get out there and help us win this.” Aiku patted Sendou’s head and for once, the insistent buzzing of endless overthinking had stopped.
Sendou smiled before heading off towards the pitch, the second half was about to start and he was determined to score. Not just to get more attention from Sae, but to show the world he was still Japan’s Ace.
