Chapter Text
It was an early morning in the small town of Bikini Bottom, the scallops were chirping and the sun slowly rose over the small village. At the very edge of the town, there stood a large grey castle, which was ruled by King Eugene. However, the king was out of the picture the majority of the time, leaving the kingdom in the hands of Queen Karen. The Queen often treats her subjects poorly and hardly ever cares for her step-son, Snow Yellow. Unfortunately, the king has yet to see that from the queen, of course..
In the tallest tower of the castle, there lived a small, yellow poriferan, Snow Yellow. The prince was still fast asleep up in his room, the sun was pouring in through his window and sunlight was peeking through his slightly open curtains. The sponge soon awoke from his slumber when the sunlight managed to shine onto him and his bed, making his bright yellow color glow every so slightly. He tossed and turned in his bed and he stretched, his hair was a bit of a mess from his sleep. The prince sat up and threw on his robe just before opening his curtains and letting all of the sunlight pour into his bedroom.
He breathed in, smelling the fresh water around him, "Hmm....good morning, small town of Bikini Bottom.." The sponge spoke softly before he stepped outside onto his balcony and observed the townsfolk that worked below.
He eventually made his way back into his bedroom and started to get ready for the day. He slipped on his usual uniform and he combed out his long hair out before putting it up and putting his red hat on. The queen always complained that his hair would sometimes be everywhere and she scolded him, telling him that he shall put it up or she'd cut it off. Snow Yellow didn't like the thought of losing his mane, so he just followed suit and hid it away to hopefully stop her from complaining about it.
Once he finished getting ready, the prince was hoping to be away from the kingdom for a while, so he was gathering his things before he heard the queen shouting for him.
"SNOW YELLOW! Get downstairs this instant or I'll drag you down here myself!" The queen yelled from downstairs. Uh oh. What could she want this time? The prince left his belongings upstairs in his room before he started making his way downstairs to see whatever his step-mother wanted from him.
"Coming..!" He sprinted downstairs and went to go find the queen. He entered the throne room, where he found his step-mother perched on her throne, looking quite irritated just by the sight of him. She still seemed a bit angry that her plan to "eliminate" him had foiled.
"You..called?" He spoke quietly, fidgeting a bit nervously and twiddling his fingers. He gently shifted from one foot to the other. The queen must've noticed it, because she snapped at him to stop fidgeting. Snow stopped and he stood there, still, and a bit nervous.
The queen eyed him for a moment before she spoke up, "Hmph. Do you know why you're here?" She raised an eyebrow, questioning him. She's asking like he knows why she called him down here. The prince raised an eyebrow and he clasped his hands together, "No ma'am..Why did you bring me here..?" He spoke, still a bit nervous.
"I brought you here because I need you to go fetch me something from the village." Queen Karen spoke flatly, basically just getting to the point. She didn't have time to play games and beat around the bush about it.
"You...want me to retrieve something for you, Mother?" The prince was a bit disappointed, mainly because he had plans for the day and his step-mother was making him to do yet another task for her just because she has authority over him.
Her expression hardened, "Don't call me that. You only refer to me as your queen. Do you understand?" She had stood up from her throne and was standing tall in front of him and she glared down at him, her arms crossed.
The prince nodded weakly, "Y-yes, I understand.." He gulped and he fiddled with the collar of his uniform. He stood silently and waited for whatever his task would be. What will she have him retrieve exactly..?
She leaned back away from him and she rolled back over to her throne, sitting back down, "I want you to retrieve a bottle of mermaid saliva for me. It's one of the ingredients I need for something I'm working on." She threw a bag of supplies over to him and it landed at his feet.
Snow Yellow picked up the bag and looked inside, "But...why do you need mermaid saliva? What are you using it for? And...you can find that in the village..?" He had a lot of unanswered questions. His questioning only aggravated the queen.
"I don't have to tell you what I'm using it for. It's none of your business!" She snapped. "Besides, mermaid saliva isn't the only thing I need you to retrieve. I gave you a list in that bag. You read it and go find the stuff I need." She crossed her arms. The prince took out the list that was in the bag and he inspected it.
"Well, I suppose I can..retrieve some of this." He stuffed it bag into the bag and he put it around his body to carry it.
"Well, if you can find it, then get going. I don't have all day for you to just laze around." She snapped her fingers and had one of the guards escort the prince out of the throne room and by the entrance of the castle. Snow Yellow now stood at the gates of the castle, just before actually venturing out into the village.
"Well, here it goes.." He opened the gates and he skipped off towards the village.
The small town of Bikini Bottom was teeming with all kinds of people. Snow Yellow would usually interact with most, but it sometimes felt like he was a bit out of place due to their very different social status. Anyhow, he tried to ignore it and just went to retrieve whatever the queen asked of him.
